This is supposed to be one amazing road and I've heard this is well worth the drive (6-7 hrs from Cincy) from my biker buddies. Has anyone actually driven it in their F-car? Would anyone be interested in a trip overnight to drive it? I expect it would be more fun during the week as it looks as if it gets VERY crowded during the nice weather months on the weekends, with lots of clubs making it a destination trip.

We could drive up during a day, stay overnight somewhere and drive it once or twice the next day before heading back home. Any interest?

Make sure you post a request for drivers in the South Central part of the forum, too. There's plenty of people who would be willing to drive with you. I'd go, just still haven't got some things straightened out with my car yet.

I can tell you it's not a great road for Testarossa's, but the 8-cylinder cars can have a lot of fun. I've driven it several times in my TR but I really prefer riding my Honda F4i. There's supposed to be a group of Ferrari's up there this weekend but as a local, I can tell you that the Dragon is not a lot of fun on weekends between 10:30 am and 6:00 PM. You either have to get there before or after all the cruisers and tourists invade the place. I ride there Tuesday and Wednesday afternoons as the "weekenders" leave by Monday and don't start returning until Thursday.

A fun loop is to drive the Dragon (US 129), head to Robbinsville via highway 28, then go over the Cherohala Skyway, then out highway 360 to 411 then up to 72 and back to the Dragon. This loop is about 170 miles and you'll be sick of corners after that. Twist my arm and come down during the week and I'll show you the way.

    Regards-
    Steve

The proper name is the Tail of The Dragon, if you want to look up more information about it. Great road, but a dangerous road for the newly initiated. It has 318 turns in 11 miles....yes, I said 318 turns in 11 miles. Beat that.

The road is legendary, but not always in a good way. If you go to the web site look under the section "trucks on the dragon". Some great shots of semis that tried negotiating the hairpins. You never know what you will encounter there and it is filled with morons on crotch rockets. I work at the Level I trauma center in Knoxville and victims of the dragon have bought me my ferrari. If you take it easy it is an interesting drive, but if you want to go fast go to the track

Check out the photos of fcars at the Dragon just last weekend at the Ferrari Cup Challenge. FCA-SC does the Dragon once or twice a year. Much fun. The promotional video at their website features our pres. J. David Scott at the wheel of his 348 Challenge. Ask him how fun it is.

Good to be back Big Tex! I didn't make it to The Cup last weekend, but J. David Scott sent me the link to the pictures which are from killboy.com. I'm sure that he would be willing to send hi-res. of any of the pics you like.
