Just wanted to share this with you guys, as I figured you would appreciate it....

As a pre-cursor, I have a big interest in the American Space program, and particularly the Mercury and Appolo programs of long ago. Anyway, one of the original seven Mercury Astronauts was Alan Shepard. Shepard was actually the first American in space, and the first astronaut to fly in 2 programs, the Mercury, and the Apollo...(He was the one who hit the golfball on the moon...) . Shepard passed away severla years ago of natural causes.
After his moon-walk, he co-wrote a book called "Moon Shot" , with another astronaut, Deke Slayton. I collect biographies on astronauts, (aside from F1 books..but that is a whole other thread...) , and a first edition of this book was up for sale on Ebay recently for $0.99 !!! I couldn't pass it up, so I snagged it for $0.99. The seller listed it as an excellent condition copy, with dust jacket. I paid for it, and it arrived in due course.....
As I opened it, and flipped open the cover....lo and behold...it is a SIGNED, DATED AND DEDICATED copy by ALAN SHEPARD !!!!!!!!
I suspect the seller had no idea what it was, but I gotta tell you, I debated this for a while....Should I tell him? My wife said....."if someone had a Ferrari in a barn, and didn't know what it was, and sold it to you for $100, would you say, no...it's worth more..?.."....
She made a point.....god bless her....

I wondered if anybody else has unearthed a nugget on Ebay ?
Would love to hear your tales of unearthed treasures....not just Ebay, but any "Ferrari in the barn" stories !!!

    btw....Merry Christmas to all !!!

    hps

    Heck Yah!!

I bought a Scotty Cameron putter on Ebay a few years back for about $300, when I got it it had T.E.W. stamped on the face (Tiger Eldrick Woods).

    I'm told it's worth upwards of 5k.

I scored a hardcover book of Ferrari Sports Cars by Keith Blumell for 2 pounds in a backwarter op-shop in Devon, UK. I never would have been there, except my mate dragged me in there against my will. Not a bad score after paying hundreds of dollars for various books at Concorso this year.
