So what are some opinions of Luca leaving Ferrari? Ferrari CEO Quits In A Huff, Says Company Is Now 'American'
Luca, some may say, was the architect of Ferrari's revival. Don't forget that the company was in a bad place at the time he came to power, with the 348 and aging TR, not to mention the poorly performing F-1 team. He was at the helm (and likely at the wheel) when all that changed. Luca is right about what he sees with Marcchionne. Given the current state of the F-1 program, I see 1990 all over again, but the future is less bright today than then...
some good thoughts in other threads on the topic. Luca was great for Ferrari. Going forward without him F-1 can't do worse than last few years and Ferrari will probably increase production and target more masses.
Agreed but I'm not a fan of increasing production. Exclusivity is what Ferrari did better than all the other competitors. Even worse for me is Fiat calling the shots when Ferrari was the only thing that was performing.
I agree. Ferrari can easily kill its brand image of exclusivity and market leader. It is a little game with the waiting list and favors for new Ferraris now. Imagine when the FF and California's are parked in the lot like Porsches and the 458 and F12's can be bought to order with no wait list. Will there also be some cute V6 Dino and SUV?
Less we forget that Ferrari's exclusivity is not merely based on the marque but their price point. Just saying.
I can see both sides of the coin. But, hopefully what has taken decades to build will not be torn down in a few short years.
I got a very nice invitation in the mail yesterday to drive the new California. Funny, I've NEVER been invited to drive an all new Ferrari before and have owned my car 13 years....
