How about Glendora Ridge for the new meeting place? Yes I like Glendora, lets do it.
Aren't there speedbumps in that lot? Or maybe I'm remembering wrong... (edit - actually it looks like no bumps - at least from what I can see from satellite view)
It is funny how many people would love to have these cars parked in their driveway, but when they are not, they get all catty. FYI, that W-S is one of the worst performing stores they have. Also funny how they love to drive their Harleys with straight pipes like they are some badass upper-middleclass rebels and have the balls to complain about the noise. What a bunch of posers! I do agree that it has gotten out of hand with car dealers and loiterers, so all the more reason to keep it secret to non-members (not non-subscribers) of the board. See otherwise we get in to trouble for the dip****s with Azn tuner cars with a chip on their shoulders. That was cool when I worked at Stillen, but I am so tired of that scene of troublemakers.
Additionally, I can sleep in now, roll out of bed (with my girl too!) come down, have some coffee, enjoy the cars, and stop by Trader Joes or Williams Sonoma. Result? Tenants get more of my money. F' the Irvine company - as long as they have commercial retail businesses they can't stop me. The best part? The f**king irony here - if you show up in an expensive/exotic car, in Newport Beach of all places, you're not allowed in to park and shop.
I've been to CC only once, but planned on returning. Heck, I own a Ferrari (which I showed when I was there) - I would be glad to pay 10 or 20 bucks to bring my car in or just park my everyday car. If it was "for a fee", 1) someone could make a few $$, 2) that someone could control the commercialization aspect. It could be better, cleaner, provide more services to the visitors, etc. Why not?
Has anyone looked into the lower big Corona parking lot? I know it's beach level, but during the winter I don't think it costs anything to park. And that lot is large in size. Could be worth checking out, I would but I'm in Phoenix for business until December.
Actually forgot to mention When I called, both people I talked to asked if I was part of the press. Do they not want this info made out thru the press? I thought bout callin back sayin I was part of the LA times or OC register, what u guys think? Wonder if they hang up, or say different stories if they know I'm part of the media
How about Shoreline Village in Long Beach? It's right in front of the Marina and no residetial anywhere near it. Plus, with the Grand Prix there every year, people should be more accepting of us fellow gearheads.
I sure as hell wouldn't drive all the way up there to cover it every week... Heck, even as far as HB would make me think pretty hard about it...
Yeah, I think we need to have a meet at All American Burger on Sunset! All the loitering would be crackheads and hookers but at least no RAC's! "Hey man that's a nice car, gotta dollar you can give me?" This could of course spawn a new trend "mass car-jacking" Come to think of it, in Hollywood the worst you can lose to the ho's are your car and wallet, in the OC the ho's take your house, car and half your assets! Can I get an amen!?!?!
Lets just show up at 9 for coffee and breakfast. That way we could sleep in and have fun too. I think if 20 to 30 cars show up it will be okay, they do not like to see over 100 cars which was the case this summer. The place was a zoo. DO NOT GIVE UP ON CC and show up. I think everything would be fine after a month or so and we could have our CC back.
We could start meeting at the Bluff off 73 and McArthur. There is a bakery and Coffee bean. There are no homes around to complain. Who wants to meet there starting 10/21?
How about taking a few weeks off and then restarting by showing up at 9 and patronizing the places of business?
Actually it was August 13th. I was there that day which I traveled a long way just to see the show (2500 miles to be exact). I was on business which I had nothing to do that morning but to come out since I was nearby. CC will be missed. Hopefully a solution can be worked out for the future for the car show to stay or move.
