Hey Matt, Cheers for coming on and I think you are spot on with your comment. The guys here can be very rough and ready to attack unfortunately. The selling price to me is not OTT. You know your stuff in terms of repairing and the market for high profile cars therefore stick to your guns. All the best with the sale. Regards, Matthew
Well, I knew as they crowed it was "totalled" during flogging the movie that is was a repairable wreck. The one burned was not repaired but replaced, IIRC...... I'm sure the Certified Body Shop at FoH would have full Factory support in an effort like this...I guess those West Coast movie guys couldn't find Steve Egyed's number from Directory Assistance....LOL! They have full equipment there to fix almost anything.......note the "almost"! Image Unavailable, Please Login
You have to think of the people who owned the car. They don't give a crap what happens to it; what it sells for, if there's one less Enzo in the world, if they lose $200k on it, if Ferrari fixes it, if the car is forever cursed. They're just business people trying to cut losses and be profitable. They're not Ferrari rescuers. Doesn't matter to them. See their perspective.
i am not in any way affiliated or associated with matthews auto. i am, however, in houston. they do have a great reputation and i have watched their site since the car landed here. what noone has mentioned is the car was for sale all the way along the process of rebuilding. it got more expensive as they waited FOREVER to get repair/replacement panels. if they planned on doing a half-assed job, they wouldn't have waited like they did. given what their shop is, it is a rebuilding shop that buys cars at auction - why would they buy it and send it to italy? that makes no sense. if some average bear bought it, that would make the world of sense.
The reason is that Ferrari can repair this and make it as good as new and set it up properly after the repair and warranty the work. I'm not saying they can't but I wouldn't buy a wrecked and repaired Enzo from anyone but Ferrari and I suspect without a LARGE discount other's wouldn't either. Best
Like Shawn, I don't know anything about this guy. Maybe I'll go visit his shop. However, I gotta say that there is big difference between doing and talking about doing. Those of you in the peanut gallery can boo all you want. However, I always find it hard to criticize anybody who steps up to the plate and takes a swing. Dale
i am not disagreeing with your statement, but for the person that wants; to buy an enzo that they could drive the hell out of and not lose anything (assuming it is bought right), this seems to be the car to buy. a completely different car, but how can one go wrong buying the highest mileage f50 (or f50k) if you plan to drive it and enjoy? i think there are a good number of ferrari guys out there, that if they had just enough money, would buy this car knowing hwat it is. i doubt few have any misconceptions
Enzo's are pretty complicated and there are recalls that make them much more usable and safer and include modifications to the Carbon attaching points of the bars that fix the rear suspention that may or may not have been done here. If those let go it gets messy fast. How much is he asking? Is the difference worth it?
Met Matt at a club race this past weekend, really nice guy. Everyone was busy with racing, but he did mention waiting on parts 6 months from Ferrari was a pain.
Rob, Very nice meeting you. Beautiful race car! Seems you know how to get it around the track pretty well too.
when kill switch doesn't fail mid-track, bad alternator doesn't drain my battery, and leaky hose doesn't create steam clouds in cockpit. all in all a fun weekend, sad to see Martin's car banged up, I was there first hand as I was between them.
Yes, don't like to see any damage. Seems the third race of the weekend was destined. Got three cars here now with damage from that race. Very glad an F car wasn't one of them.
When I saw Martin's car coming hot and loose in my rear view I held back and to left no way in heck I was turning in front of that, sure enough it went through the corner into Ron. I don't always make wise decisions like that.
