As you approach the track it's totally surreal, the hour it takes to sneak through the woods only heightens the experience. If I can find somewhere to host it i'll post a short vid of some passes from about 10 ft away... That said, no radio, camera or video could ever come close to the sound of a racing car on full chat travelling circa 210mph looming out of the dark, headlights ablaze at 3 o'clock in the morning. Worth the drive to France and the stinging nettles in the wood every time!
Thanks Napolis, will stick it on CD and post it up tomorrow... @C'one - You really should try if you go again, i've managed to get in the same way 2 years in a row, but I'm sure our loophole will be spotted eventually. If you do manage to get through, just make sure you stay back a bit, and don't go all the way up to the armco. The marshalls don't seems to mind unless you stand really close, most of the way along the straight there's a waist high fence running parallel to the armco, if you don't go over this then you should be fine... Also, flash photography is somewhat ill advised unless you want to be responsible for a crash!

You're getting material for one hell of a scrap book. Congrats! PS: It is now official: You're "utterly crackers", Jim! C&D said so.
I have been following this thread for months and I have to say, it was a lot of fun! Thanks to Jim for letting us go along for the ride! I have to say, the final product is just amazing. IMHO, it is one of the most beautiful and sexiest Ferraris ever. I have a question for Jim. Like yourself, I am from NY too (Long Island). I was wondering, do you have any plans to show your car at any of the local NY events? Best regards, Andy
the enzo/p4-5 could indeed be tweaked for mor power and top speed, but a complete re-engineering is needed.the chassis, brakes, flywheel, tranny, etc are only rated up to a certain degree;i.e the "fxx" model that is closely monitored by the factory.think of it as a testbed for futeure super ferraris. even if you could eke out more power,i strongly suggest you don't;as you would turn a wonderfully balanced car(the enzo/p4-5) into something almost uncontrollable and ill-handling.not to mention uncomfortable. honestly,600-680bhp is ENOUGH FOR ANY ROAD CAR.
I was only asking a totally hypothetical question. I have no plans what so ever for modifying the engine. I agree that it's perfect (HP wise) as it is. Do you know what the Cx/HP/Frontal area of the Maserati MCC race car is or of the FXX? Does weight vs HP effect VMAX? Best
Jim.. I bought a new DVD to watch tonight. Logged in, found a link to this thread.. 3 Hrs later I have completed it.. DVD still in wrapper, and could not begin to compete with the evening's entertainment! Thank you, and HUGE respect - for the clarity of your grand vision, and for adding such a beautiful machine into automotive history.. and having achieved that, I am so glad that you will be driving this car - cars were made to be driven and enjoyed, and thats so much more satisfying to know than to think of this fine car festering in a museum somewhere, no matter how good she looks! Congratulations.. Ben
The angle on that shot is awesome. Almost one of the best ways I've seen to truly appreciate the sumptuousness, the flowing sensuality of the design and bodywork. I suppose that shot itself is floating around, maybe in the presskit (which I downloaded but have not fully gone through yet).
"Luxuries include a phone system that works anywhere in the world" Sat phone? I always wondered how easy those were to get ...
It kind of bugged me a bit that they referred to it as a "Super-Enzo". I guess that's what it is in some ways, but really it's a totally different animal and to call it such is kind of ... lowering. Oh well, there are many automotive journalists and magazines that kind of pander a bit, talking to the masses from a condescending pulpit (hi Matt Davis) and one just has to get past that and go right to the facts ...
Appologies for the hijack, but as promised... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QST9A26D1XA http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g77fJc2RXDE The sound is probably better than ther footage, speed seems a little tame on video!
I will not be at Pebble Beach Concours dÉlégance this August, but for sure i will don't you miss to go to the Paris show in September ! Thierry
I'll defineately be at Press days with the car. There are several photo's of me on this thread and in the Pininfarina Press kit driving 0846 and standing next to Andrea.
Jim, Congratulations on the superb execution of a wonderful project - those exhausts are worth the money alone. Just a couple of questions which I'm sure you've answered but I didn't fancy trawling through over 100-pages of the thread to find the answers (sorry!). 1 - what's the VIN? 2 - what dealer did you find the unused Enzo at in the first place? Thanks in advance, Ben Tyer
and a bit of a shame! every page was worth reading! However, I do have a cheeky question myself, having been showing this thread and talking about it to all who will listen.. I run a hi-def monitor, and would dearly love to have a hi-res (1920x1200)version of this image ( http://www.*************/PicFetch?pic=3456-3.jpg ) as wallpaper.. Would anyone be able to provide this or point me in the direction of? Thanks all..
