As a sidenote. Any progress with the book, or the model, Jim? I have been banking on those as a Christmas present for some friends of mine who were interested, as well as for myself. Sorry if this has been addressed recently, I haven't been checking here as thorough lately. Peter Hatch
Haha, it seems like the model question has been asked every day since the P 4/5's inception . Great Christmas gift idea though!
Schumacher last sunday showed that you could overtake 16 times in the same race, but these two laps with Gilles and Rene in 1979 are amazing, I dont remember who won the race but I couldnt forget who was the second and third. Pablo.
Jim, I was curious to know of your other cars. I am sure you are some sort of collector - I think the P4/5 represents that very well. Zonda, CCX, MC12 perhaps? And why no FXX? Regards, Jon
Research his posts in the vintage section- needless to say, the cars you mention are not really where his interest lies.
Tru Dat You see this??? Evo 098, Gordon Murray: "How many of our today's cars will be considered classics in, say, 20 or 30 years' time? One that will be is the brand-new Pininfarina-designed one-off Ferrari P4/5 supercar, based on a Ferrari Enzo. All supercars have presence and a certain "dramatic" look, but not all of them have style. The Enzo is certainly dramatic, but it manages to look very large (it is!) and very disjointed - the lines just don't flow. Panel shut gaps are too big and obvious, the front overhang is just too long, and the whole effect is styling rather than style. Enter the P4/5 - a truly beautiful, balanced shape. I'm sure Pininfarina will have the "retro" finger pointed at them, but while there's no mistaking its heritage, the style is crisp, fresh and bang up to date. This is not a sycophantic exercise like the Ford GT but very much a new design in its own right. If I was offered the keys to either the Enzo or the P4/5, I know which one I would be driving home." Have a look at this: http://www.nfscars.net/forum/showthread.php?t=18017&page=4 Cool, no? Ernesto Freitas
I think with some certainty we can say that Mr. Murray's opinion holds water (anywhere in the world). I wonder what Peter Stevens thinks? -Chris
Looks like Gordon Murray shares my opinion..or stole my thread .. http://ferrarichat.com/forum/showthread.php?t=105087
This isn't to sound in anyway wrong..but out of curiousity is that your daughter in the first photo? I thought she was unable to make it?
I'm pretty sure she is the man who's picture appears in this article's (http://www.apexstrategy.com/images/scp45.jpg) daughter. I spoke to her for a while since she seemed lonely. Not because I thought she was cute or that I kind of like the whole Italian accent or anything. The friend I brought was not all that appreciative though. Peter Hatch
noy sure if this has been posted yet, buy here's a link to some very nice pics of jim's car from auto motor und sport : http://www.auto-motor-und-sport.de/test_technik/fotoshows/fahrbericht_ferrari_p4_5.129286.htm cheers
I must say driving through the New York night in P 4/5, listening to Surrealistic Pillow is not the worse thing a person could do...
You know just how to enjoy your car I swear man! I couldn't imagine driving it but if I could, driving it at night listening to the upbeat songs like 3-5 of a Mile, Somebody to Love, and D.C.B.A.-25 would be an amazing accompaniment to the 12 cylinders, but I bet the subtle sounds of Today and White Rabbit, with 660 bhp are just so emotional, especially at night. To me thats the perfect way to get acquainted with that new gorgeous machine of yours. Keep telling us those little tidbits of your driving experiences!
Hey!! you found my 3D modeling thread!! I have posted a few pics of my P4/5 3D mesh here a while back. Everyone keeps emailing me about it, and loves it. I thank Jim and Pininfarina for such a passion inspired design. I am also still working on that model for removeable doors, hood, and bonnett. Its a a funn hobby for me. I will be makeing Jim's 002c here soon also, and finishing my 96' Ferrari FX (Sultan of Brunei). Here is pic of the P4/5 next to the Rossa I made aswell. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Interestingly when we went high speed testing at CERAM Pininfarina brought along Rossa so the journalists could compare the two. Best
You have to be kidding me, I would love to get a pic of the 2 together. It would look nice to see them togather since they are both tributary cars of past models. Lwt me know where I can find a pic of that compairison.
Wow Jim, thats pretty cool that you have a car that can essentially comand the attention of everyone within eye distance! Very nice article, thanks for posting....
