Yes, there is a discussion opened about "Villa d'Este" in the vintage section. Excuse me for the OT! Alan
Grazie CarbonFiber, That's the story I was referring to. Why didn't EVO reprint that in English? I guess I'll have to order the Italian back issue.
yeah, we got gipped!!! i have that issue (uk edition), but didn't even know about those pics/article til read in this thread...why wouldn't they put that in all the editions? i feel cheated!
I'm happy you appreciate it. Don't worry, I'm sure EVO prints this issue in english as soon as possible... I'm suscribed to EVO UK newsletter, and I see UK articles are printed in the italian version 3-4-5 months later...
It is very beautiful and the Co. has a link to Bugatti (Note similarity of badges) This thread is also about coach building and that one is great coach building. I think the chassis may be Maser Based. Best
jim congrats with the villa d'este price you won! and what a fine car the P 4/5 love to see it in real life!
I remember it was maybe Maserati based too, but searching now I found on many sites the engine is a Ford 4,6 V8 by Roush with 500hp (I suppose the same in the Ford Shelby GT500), without any references to the chassis origins. I think all we remember it could be Maserati based, because first rumours told this...
Jim, What's about the face of the dark Fiat Punto driver when he looked at his left?! I read an interesting article on EVO (italian edition) about the way a Zonda s looks like at people eye. The journalist said that people frequently questions (differently than for a Ferrari Fiorano or a Murciélago) are not: -"What's the top speed?" -"0-60mph (0-100kmh?)?" -"What's its fuel consumption?" ...but: -"What's is this?!" -"Did you assembly your own car?" (answer: -"Yes, I constructed it after I finished my space shuttle!" ) Definitively Jim, What's peole reactions and discussions when they meet you and the p4/5, for exemple, at a gas station?! Cheers Alan
Looking at the proportions and the shape of the windows it may very well be Alfa 8C based, don't you think? I haven't seen this car in real life yet, so I'm not sure if the overall dimensions match the 8C...
I don't think it could be 8C based, because the 8C is 4,27m long, and the Diatto is a 2+2 seater, so it should be long at least 4,5m. But that's all ideas, we must wait official data.
Hi That was on the way to get gas after Villa d'Este as the next day we drove her 400 miles down to the Ferrari Factory and then back to Turin. I'm surprised by how many people know what she is. Crowds do gather and the cell phone come out to snap photo's and call friends. The Police rolled by and were very friendly and everyone had a smile on their faces which made me happy.
Hi Jim I finally got round to reading some of this massive thread and I am as ever stunned at the distance the car covers (both road and air) and the reactions to it around the globe. Just a quick question about the itinerary in England - will the P4/5 be visiting anywhere else except Goodwood when it is in the UK? Thanks Ben
