First of all congratulations on realising your dream ! I have been reading through this thread for the past week (now suffering eye strain).lol Reading back from the start when you had everyone on the edge of there seat until the official launch and even now everybody wanting to know where the car will be next, hoping it will be close enough to them to visit its location, great work. With regards to the phenomenon your car has created around the world, I am sure PF are greatful to you, as you are to them, as in escence you have given them the publicity they could only of dreamed of, in bringing this line of their work ( which as you say in your video is or was forgotten), back into the imagination of those wishing to realise their dream, just like you, to commission them into building a body for your chassis. Well done and great work by all involved ! I just wondered from reading through the majority of your comments, if there is anything on the car you wish you had or had not developed/changed, and as you were encouraged by PF to push the envolope and be more modern rather than retro ( I hope this is the right way round), is there anything you wish you had tried to do to the car through the research and development stage, and could you implement them now or in a future project. ? Like how you are very pleased with exhaust tips and you even say they sound better( if possible, we'll just have to take your word for it for now).
The interesting to me is that while obviously pre production testing goes on before a car is produced in this case we (Pininfarina,Sal and I) were able to do both pre and post production testing and make modifications based on what we found. After P 4/5 was "done" Rene Arnoux, Paulo and I put her through hundreds of hard track miles at CERAM. We learned many things which resulted in changes to various systems. A number of Journalists and friends drove her as well and I listened to their input. I then put many road miles on her in many conditions. At night. In the rain. On very hot days. We learned more and made futher changes. We improved engine cooling and the windshield wiper system. I drove her 400 miles in one day and assessed her comfort on a long drive. We changed the switch-ware around to make it more suitable for me. We drove her 1000 miles through the winding roads of Sicily, on the Track as Siragusa, and along the route of the Targa Florio Long Course. We learned more. We drove her up the Hill at Goodwood in pouring rain and realized there were still some things that could be improved. We changed the wiper system a second time and re engineered the spoiler actuators. I have very much enjoyed this part of it and look forward to driving her more, realizing new things, and making more changes if I think they will improve her. That said I do feel she's exactly what I want and that futher changes will be very minor if any. I have several ideas swirling around about what I/we may do for the next act but for now those thoughts are as Bob said are simply thoughts: "Blowing in the wind..."
I think its great that you actually use this car as often as you can. I bet the transportation costs for sending it around the world are getting close to production cost's ( I hope you can collect air miles for her), but I am as glad as everybody else, that you do allow her to be shown as often as possible. I hope you have many more great driving days with her.
Napolis, I didnt know you were selling your ride?!? And at a price cheaper than an Enzo... LOL http://www.clasificadosonline.com/UDTransDetail.asp?AutoNumAnuncio=489005
Jim, Hey, you said in another thread "Take P 4/5 for example. I bought a new 2003 Ferrari Enzo and commissioned Pininfarina to modify it within world wide rules for modification. There is no question legally it remained a 2003 Ferrari. Before it was done Luca saw it and agreed with Andrea that it deserved official recognition so that car is now officially Ferrari P 4/5 by Pininfarina. If Luca hadn't felt it deserved to be officially recognized it wouldn't be officially recognised but it would still Legally be a 2003 Ferrari. This means it could be registered as a 2003 Ferrari with DMV and pass through World Wide Customs as a 2003 Ferrari." What is P4/5 registered as, is it still a 2003?
Yes that's it's legal identity. Ferrari, Pininfarina and I consider it a 2006 because that's when the conversion was finished but legally it's a 2003 Ferrari.
Thanks for the response and I never thanked you for the drinks at the unveiling last year. So thanks. From what you posted I thought that they might of made the exception in this case, and re-year it as a 2006.
