P 4/5 is back from Bahrain and we've begun to clean her up. Two wonderfull track days injested quite a bit of sand but the good news is that the filters were up to the task. We're giving her a through cleaning, changing her disk brake pads, air and oil filters, oil, and brake fluid and she'll be good to go. Beautiful as P4/5 is, the fact remains, it's not just a nod to the past, or form-fitting comfort for privateer or eye candy for the rest of us, rather; form follows function. After all, it's glorious inspiration was purpose-built as well.
These are the original spark plug wire coil heat protector's. We'll be replacing them as well. Image Unavailable, Please Login
They shield the coils mounted mounted on the spark plugs from heat. As you can see they're coming apart. Not sure why they can't stand up to Hard Track use. We'll redesign they to make them more robust.
To me buying the sand and coil heat shield from Jim's P4/5 would be like owning a part of history. I remember reading an article about the Shelby series 1 prototype year's ago that said Shelby fanatic's were picking the bug's out of it's grill, from a Shelby club meeting/gathering I believe, for momento's. I used to have a shrine in my house to racing that had Fcar and F1 pic's/poster's and 2 racing slick's. People were like wtf when they came over but loved the dedication to Fcar's and F1.
Jim, any chance of P 4/5 to appear at this event: "Jun 15. Enjoy Fathers Day at the 8th Annual FCA/NER Concorso Event in Hartford. This is the regions biggest event of the year and benefits the Connecticut Childrens Medical Center"? I am looking for any chance to see the car...
