Turbos to get to 650 HP and then a Cx of .39 versus NA 650 hp and sub 0.34 Cx. Easy to see who'll win that race!
Wauw, this thread just gets better and better. I think we all hope this car is as good as our expectations has us believing. About using the exhaust flow as part of the aerodynamics, like in a formula 1 car for example, I'm surprised noone has used that technique before... The Mclaren F1 has a power-to-weight ratio of app. 545 hp/ton. If the P4/5 will equal or even better that figure with a stock Enzo engine it will mean a kerb weight of <1210 kg, can that be true? The Enzo weighs 1365 kg as far as I know, so that's 150 kg thrown out the window, that's quite a bit! Congrats on the project, it must have been an experience to remember for all involved. BTW, Napolis: Will you let carmagazines try out the car? (I subscribe to Evo, so please let that be a 'yes'!!)
EVO team tends to crash cars they're testing nowadays... A test would be great but, I mean it would be safer if the Evo guy stays in the passenger's seat.
It really interesting to see that the numbers make sense. They have more of a race set up and much more rear wing/spoiler than we do. Our CX is lower and we didn't want to have that much wing/spoiler on the street as it would harshen the ride considerably by requiring higher spring rates. They trade CX for downforce and unlike us can't crank it out automatically. They top out at 225 mph but we'll continue on due to lower down force/lower CX. Our tires are similar. 255/35 ZR 20 F 335/30 ZR 20 R Our wheels are unique milled from a solid block of Alloy. Best
Another very good guess. Remember we changed the entire top of the Enzo's structure and replaced it with a high tensile roll cage/glass/polycarbonate structure which helped. Our front sub frame is also quite different and our car is smaller. (Shorter/lower) I suspect she will be getting a bit of press but I'm not going to let any of them do something stupid... Best
Hi Jim. I still cannot wait to see the car. I'm counting down like you. I have a different question: Did ever Ferrari SpA contacted you about the P4/5? Are they interested? Thanks again in advance for your reply. Cheers
Only the windscreen is glass. The rest is polycarbonate and carbon fiber and the entire structure is lighter than the one it replaces so the center of gravity is lowered.
Have you spoken at all to Hot Wheels...? I would think a model of P 4/5 would certainly be in order, no...?
Details are being discussed and I'm hopefull they'll be worked out. You're opinion of P 4/5 will be very interesting esp. with your affection for the Enzo. As you've already seen a few shots of P 4/5 I think I'll put you on the spot. What are your feeling's about what we've done? Please hold nothing back.
+1 This would be great!!!!! And NNO share your feelings..........i cannot wait, i have no internet at the house right now. i have to wait until i go to work........weekends suck big time right now. i should have internet by the 17th of july............
You asked for it... Considering the Enzo is a limited edition Ferrari and it's the pinnacle of what Ferrari has offered (ever!), there's a certain disdain that muddies the public water from where most opinions are sipped... I, on the other hand, have never been much for the purist's train of thought and often try, myself, to derail it... Modifying a Ferrari - even a limited edition Ferrari - to suit one's personal tastes is a beautiful thing... It is, in my opinion, car enthusiasm taken to another level... But sending the whole damn car to a coachbuilder like Pininfarina and working with them, every step of the way, to create something never before seen, is a sort of tip-of-the-hat to days gone past before I was even born... Back when customers would specifically request one-offs and have them commissioned, either by Ferrari, or on the after market... I hold P 4/5 on the same personalized, one-off level as cars like the Breadvan (minus the race history and its reason for existing, of course!)... Yours is a throw-back - a nod to deep, rich history and encouragement to others to do the same now and in the future... I hope this is a direction others will take with other Ferraris... As for it being an Enzo of all things, well... I've seen extensive pictures of P 4/5 and was blown away - I just wish it were black D)... Am I sad that there's one less Enzo in the world...? No; it wasn't crashed or otherwise destroyed; it was personalized... I can live with that... I think others can too... Though having seen pictures and still feeling like nothing will ever match an all-black Enzo, I will of course reserve final judgment until such time when I can see P 4/5 in person...
Well said Carbon, I would suggest that everyone that has seen the photos feels the same as you do. You are so eloquent friend. Have you ever thought about writing novels? :} P.S. Thanks again for the tour of FOA. I made a BIGGG mistake eating that burrito for lunch last week. I died with great agony by the time I got to Tifton. Keep up the healthy eating program. See you soon.
