Once in a while, early in the morning if there is hardly anyone around I will let it all hang out. It must look and sound so cool to the few that witness. I have never had anyone blow by me in a hot, loud exotic. Have you?
That would be if you were in heavy traffic. Weaving in and out of cars. That would be ... as you say. I m talking about like 5 am, no one around (virtually).
I here you I am up pretty early on weekends and get on the gas at times. Remember back about 20 years ago I was going up I-5 in central California just putting along at a leisurely 85-90 when I say something approaching from the rear quite fast, soon as I said look whats coming up behind us it blows past me. Was a Pantera with what sounded like open exhaust. Was pretty sweet so I try to pass the entertainment on when I can.
One of my most memorable was when I was driving my 40' motor home and a new LP640 (all black with top down) blew by us. My son and I could not control our excitement while my wife and daughter couldn't figure out what all of the fuss was about. I could see that he got caught up in traffic ahead of us so I was weaving in and out of traffic to catch up so we could check it out some more. The sound was great.
Brings this to mind. Not a Ferrari, but definitely a blow by... warning, language is NSFW [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KEnOeITKZAA[/ame]
Gotcha. You think if you only crash into one car, killing one family it's "cool". And I still think you are still a Massengil. Want to be cool... Take it to the track a rip off some quick laps.
Back in the 70's I was working the late shift as a cab driver. At around 2 in the morning a green Maserati Ghibli blew by me in the Lincoln tunnel .The engine wail bouncing off the walls of the tunnel was one best sounds I have heard to date. Mike
For your insult I think you have a predisposition and there is no need. I have tracked many times on bikes. I understand. nothing irresponsible in gassing on an unpopulated superhighway at 5 am with virtually no traffic.
By your own admission you are driving recklessly on a public road with other cars. Your entire premise is that there ARE other people around to witness your "COOLNESS". You are many things. COOL is not among them.
Your opinion is noted. It is simply a topic of discussion. Of course if you would like to talk tiddleywinks or other matters kindly refer yourself to other threads or disscussions as you obviously have nothing positive to say here.
Driving fast or dangerous on a residential street, school zone, park zone, in heavy traffic area, etc. is pretty stupid. There is a time and place for everything. If you think that someone that has a Ferrari or other nice sports car can't enjoy some spirited driving on a public road now and than than I suggest you go out and buy a Toyota Echo and stay in the slow lane!
Congratulations. You are the only one supporting his dangerous driving. Maybe you guys should have a date and brag about how cool you each are.
Well if you think you two getting together to talk about how cool you are, isn't cool. Maybe it's beginning to sink in. I'm done. Enjoy your self admiration. From the lack of responses,... pretty clear the mirror is your only fan.
I normally don't weigh in on these types of debates, but I will on this one, and I have to say I am with Simon. Enjoying your car is one thing, but (quoting the OP here) "let(ting) it all hang out" on a public road is dangerous and irresponsible, no matter the time of day. Even on a freeway, you can never do that safely. Perhaps it would be 'cool' for a few spectators sitting off to the aide of the road waiting for it, but for the average driver on their way to work, or on their way home, and at 5:00 AM both of them tired and groggy... Not cool. Dangerous.
Mr Simon had an F40 and drove the hell out of it on the track here at the Roebling Road track several times. He knows a thing or two about driving fast. Just saying.
On Pocono Raceway while riding in a TT Gallardo doing approximately 165mph on the back stretch I had an FXX BLOW by us doing at least 170. Full throttle, at speed, completely unexpected and only feet away. Anyone who has heard an FXX knows how loud they are, even at idle, to have it blow by me was something I will never forget. Being a Ferrari aficionado I can't think of many things that can top that without riding or driving a Ferrari. It was truly incredible, especially since it took me by such surprise.
This is a tough one. When I see a great car coming up from behind I will sometimes lower my window to listen to the engine. If i'm not expecting it and it's loud it can scare the crap out of me. People who are scared do crazy things. And for someone who isn't into cars they will likely see nothing good in it. A fellow I knew passed me in his Lambo. He really got on it while passing me. It was impressive and put a smile on my face. I think statistically strangers are more likely to take offense than have a positive reaction, as much as we'd like to think otherwise.
This whole, "let it all hang out" statement is a little to vague. I certainly do not agree with a race car approach on public streets regardless of the time. However, I'm pretty sure I'm not the only one who has give my car, not an Fcar, a little more throttle then maybe needed.
