    I just wanted to post a brief thread to thank all of you. As much as I have enjoyed owning my dream car, I feel particularly privileged to be part of such a good group of people. I can think of no other group of auto enthusiasts that take as much time and effort to help others. During my car search, many of you offered to look at cars I was interested in all over the country. Others, contacted me when they saw cars they thought might interest me. When I finally found my car, f-chatters who lived on my route home, Pm'd me with their phone numbers and addresses in case I broke down. However, the kindness extends far beyond cars. Thanks to fellow members on this board, in the 4 months I have owned my car, I have been to two charity events and registered my car for the Make a Wish foundation. I have also read countless threads by other f-chatters who have driven hundreds of miles to share their cars with children, Veterans, the elderly and the terminally ill. I don't know what it is that is so unique about this board. My theory is that most of us really appreciate, regardless of our economic status, how truly lucky (or blessed depending on your religious preference) to have these cars. There seems to be a keen awareness that we should share our good fortune with others.

    I don't want to get to sappy here, but as much as I enjoy my car, I enjoy being a member of this group equally as much.

    Yes, we've all seen it before. So full of warm enthusiasm and brothery love as the city they hail from. What happens next is that you will want to give something back to the community -- You want to be a moderator! That's it! What better way to serve such a great group of internet friends!

    And in a couple of years, just like we have all watched dm_n_stuff, you'll grow into a ban wielding demagogue, thrown out of P&R for banning little old ladies because they voted for Bush, and feared by Rob and the other mods as a rogue -- bitter, unshaven and never leaving the safety of your bed to face those egomaniacal sociopathic Ferrari people on FChat.....

    I agree wholeheartedly.
    I own my 550 because of some threads in the 550 section. I felt confident buying it in part because I know there is a very knowledgeable and helpful community of enthusiasts here that can help navigate someone through car questions.
    There is great humor here, great advice, timely information regarding not just cars but the economy, etc.
    The P&R section can get vitriolic and.....but hey, it's kinda fun too!
    I think it goes beyond an internet board, and really is a "community" with all it's good and bad points.
    Thankfully Dr. Strangelove is ever on the prowl to weed out poser trolls, and that is extremely helpful.
    I feel that if I were at a car event somewhere in the country and ran into an FChatter for the first time in person that we would "know" each other already.

    Totally agree - invaluable amount of knowledge and (for someone about to make their first purchase) a nice feeling knowing where to turn for honest advice.

    F Chat is easily the best internet community out there. When I went through utter hell after my 430 needed a new engine it was this community that helped keep me from losing my already primitive ape mind.
    Any issue I have with my car I can address here and bounce it off other members that know a hell of a lot more than I do. This has saved me time, money, and frustration several times. In fact, there have been
    occasions when I know of issues before they arise. I just tell my shop that I know it's an issue and they always say "Oh yeah, there's a campaign for that due on your car"........You gotta love that!

    Oh no, that's not right at all... I was told yesterday that "All Fcar owners are self centered &*%^&&*^&*%*ers", or something to that effect.

    I thought a minute and to defuse the conversation said:

    "You are right my love, or else we'd drive a Prius and send the leftover money to Greenpeace"

    ..and the phone went dead, so I could go back to concentrating on my driving...LOL!

    Not so much 'enjoying it' as 'living it".......LOL!

    What other make can you tell an Insurance Adjuster..."I'll need this money soon, my car is in line at the Body Shop, right behind the Lemans Class Winner of this year......."????
