I have a 94 Spyder built towards the end of the production run. The Competionizone people are pro's and I'm sure they will do everything I ask. Thanks Andy

Well that was fast. The StoogeWerkz cat is out of the bag now.

That is actually my modified intake, and the picture is from this Tuesday when I installed it on Tim's (SoCal1) 348 Challenge.

Out of curiosity what FB page was that off of?

I thought we weren't gonna post anything up until all the tuning was finalized?

    Guess you were too excited?

Oh well, it's not like everyone wasn't gonna see it eventually anyway. I just wanted to wait until the tuning was all squared away. The up side is now you are really gonna have to get the mapping perfected.

So that rest of you know, I am lending my intake to Tim for a little bit so he can work on the mapping. That intake allows the engine to really breathe, so much so that the stock afr goes WAAAY lean. So it's now Tim's task to get the tuning completed.

I started thinking about this plenum modification many years ago after I saw the intake on an Enzo. It has a single open plenum with a throttle body on the left, and a throttle body on the right. The idea was in my head but I never got around to doing it.

Then I saw Maxwell's 348tt with the single plenum, how well it did, with dyno proven results and that was it. So about 4 years ago I finally said screw it, bought an intake, took it to a fabricator and had it modified. It got shelved because I didn't have the ability to tune in the fuel and timing it needs. Anyway, it's dusted off now and we'll see how Tim does with the tuning.

It's not top secret anymore ;)

I never said anything about it because I generally don't like making things public until it has been proven to work, and has been successfully running for a while. THEN I will normally share the info.

This modification is not very radical at all. Well, unless you consider cutting up a stock plenum radical. My whole idea was to increase the breathing capacity of the intake, and thus improve the breathing of the engine with the hopes of it producing a respectable power gain. I cc'd my modified open plenum and it measured approximately 4350 cc's +/-. The displacement of a single cylinder in the f119 is 426cc rounded up. So my modified open plenum displaces more than 10X the air of the displacement of a single cylinder. Plus the engine is now breathing through both throttle bodies.

If Tim can get the tuning to work, and if it makes the power I'm optimistic it can make, I will probably post a dedicated thread about it. Complete with the guts of the modification.

So keep your fingers crossed for the StoogeWerkz tuning division, aka SoCal1. LOL!

    LOL!

My guess is you should only richen up the open loop, full throttle mapping. And man does it need a whole bunch more fuel.

Check this out guys. Tim texted me air/fuel graphs from the initial dyno test. The engine was sucking in so much air it was running WICKED lean.

    16:1 @ 2000 rpm
    15:1 @ 3000 rpm
    14.7:1 @ 4000 rpm
14.5:1 @ 5000 rpm with a slight dip down to 14.1 then right back up
    14.7:1 @ 6000 rpm
    14:1 @ 7000 rpm roughly
    13.7:1 @ 7500 rpm

Now if that doesn't convince you that the engine is indeed restricted in stock form then I don't know what will.

    Thanks for the offer Mark.

Tim is running the yellow top Bosch injectors. Though I don't know what the flow rate is on them. I'm sure we could figure it out with the Bosch part numbers. Or maybe Plugzit can chime in with the specs.

Yellow tops are usually the 19.5lbs ones I thought. Is that enough fuel? And if that's enough, you can get those all day long from the BMW M50 engines for pennies. If that's not enough, then the pink top were on the M52 engines, and you can get those for nickels.

Was ohm resistance are they? They need to be at least 15.8 resistance.

    I see.

Well let's hope they have enough duty cycle to get the job done. For all we know they could already be tapped out?
