The Curated Giallo F50 209/349 with over 16,000 kilometers sold for $4.7m, it did not stay long in inventory because it was priced right and there was a USA buyer specifically looking for a Giallo F50 on hand, who considered the other Giallo F50s below. The Japan ex-Matsuda Collection Giallo F50 17/349 with 13,000 kilometers will likely trade in the same area that the Curated car did if it sells, it hasn't sold for a long time because the ask is significantly more than what a number of potential buyers have been willing to pay, and the condition as with numerous ex-Matsuda cars isn't particularly pristine, for example it features things such as air intake discoloration and chassis tarnishing. The Italy Giallo F50 with approximately 16,000 kilometers and engine modified to GT specs is very much in driver's condition, 2 owners from new, current owner since 2005, 4m Eu is thought to be able to make a deal. The above is in line with the market where only super-low miles cars accomplish $5m or just above www.classic.com As regards USA F50s, there are 2 examples with just over 4k miles each that are advertised for sale seeking just over $5m, one of which has been available for @ 10 months so far.
For clarification about the pricing of the Japan ex-Matsuda Collection Giallo F50 17/349 with 13,000 kilometers, the price expectations you mentioned above are not real (in other words they come from someone trying to talk up the market) because in fact the seller's asking price is almost $1m less than those expectations, and offers being made on the car are significantly less than that. The sellers have the car consigned to them so it's a private sale, with all that in mind it's a nice opportunity to purchase a rare Giallo F50.
Hello Joe. Do you happen to know if this is the latinised version of a Japanese surname? I ask this because Mazda is pronounced "Matsuda" in Japanese and I was wondering if this collection has any connection to the founding family of the carmaker. Thank you!
Yoshio Matsuda the Ferrari collector is a real estate developer, but yes, there is a Mazda - Matsuda connection at least in name, Jujiro Matsuda is the man who founded Mazda way back in 1920, but the only Matsudas in leadership roles with the company have been Tsuneji Matsuda (1952–1970) and Kouhei Matsuda (1970–1977), so even if Yoshio is related to them, he and his Ferrari collection appear to have nothing to do with Mazda.
Wrong. It was the price given to me personally by the selling agent when I was in Japan and interested to view the car.
First time I have seen an F50 from that angle, loved the engineering, never a fan of the look, but in that pic I get it.
Marcel I think you are right, but I the reason I may have committed the mortal sin of spelling it Yoshio without the extra "h" is because I noticed that his name was spelled Yoshio by Japanese journalist & photographer Ken Saito's piece: https://jalopnik.com/this-is-how-japans-ferrari-owners-do-brunch-1794530529 In the past I have also seen Yoshio spelled without the extra "h" in numerous other sources: https://supercarnostalgia.com/blog/ferrari-333-sp-chassis-001 https://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/threads/hunting-the-1997-mbz-clk-gtr.541320/page-2 https://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/threads/250-gto-selling-price-thread-due-to-requests.236509/page-2 http://www.finecars.cc/en/detail/car/93915/index.html https://forums.timezone.com/index.php?t=tree&goto=4672825&rid=0 https://gentlemanavenue.com/ferrari-enzo-owners-list-in-2023/ That said I have indeed seen his name spelled Yoshiho in a number of other more creditable sources including on the title of his books Rosso Corsa and My Favorite Things, so I'll assume that's the correct spelling. Thank you for pointing this out. No Karim, I'm not wrong. I was previously advised of this car's pricing via Jon Yoshikawa the seller's agent, but as a result of your post I chose to double-check the price a couple of days ago because markets and pricing are always evolving. The current price being asked is almost $1m less than "north of $6m", ¥730,000,000 is being sought (please see correspondence below from Saturday) which translates this morning to @ $5,222,754 or thereabouts, therefore, in my humble opinion, anyone posting publicly that the expectation is for it to go at north of $6m is simply talking the market up, nobody's willing to give away an extra $1m which the seller doesn't require. I made my comments because I would expect that you are current with the car's pricing before you made your post about it's price expectations, but if you were given a higher price previously and were unaware of the current price, then that's understood, but the current status suggests they have reduced their price by almost a million dollars because there were no takers at the higher price, which also underscores my point. As someone who is familiar with pristine F50 condition, I'm sure when you visited the car you noted it's condition & mileage, you'd have observed that there isn't a the basis upon which the car would achieve a benchmark result in today's market, and although the current asking price which I have now disclosed is more realistic, it's still viewed as high for this car. Fcinquanta visit in Hertfordshire today I like to look inside wheel arches as they reveal about usage. In the pics below you can see the inner materials and coating of the wheel arches from inside and how they have deteriorated with usage - see for example how the shiny corrugated black part is with very little dents from stones/chips and similarly (in the close up pics) the carbon and other dark material is smooth and new looking. Here zero coating or spraying was done, all the arches are factory finish, including the small red stickers you see. The dashboard material is also revealing. I came across two f50 with horrible looking grey covering material (like a tiger scratched across it). One considered it ‘original’, the other simply replaced it with a similar material. Well to me let’s have neither of those, rather: original and excellent condition. Here are a couple pics from today’s visit: Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login

Incredible detailed pictures. It’s so nice to see pictures of parts and areas hidden and often not seen. Thanks for sharing. Car looks stunning
Thanks, YellowF50, and I guess people who view the F50 as not a beautiful machine need to reconsider maybe… I mixed-up a dashboard picture of a car in Surrey (yesterday) below Image Unavailable, Please Login With a similar picture on the car in Hertfordshire (today) which is that one below: Image Unavailable, Please Login Still both are smooth to the touch, unscratched, not faded, and without the air pockets below the surface…
Nice eclectic mix, that's the ex-Ralph Lauren 288 GTO by the way. As far as the F50 market is concerned, I note 3 USA F50s for sale, and 8 Eu/ROW cars for sale, that's more than I remember in recent times.
Yes Sir, John advised me Paul Russell had the Lauren car for a bit. It's simply incredible to be in the presence of a GTO. Sounds corny and child-like but it's true. He had a red lambo that was a one owner, 1K mile car. Red with white interior if memory serves me. Stunning collection of cars for sure, and the most gracious host John was.
Wow those dash pictures are so fresh and crisp looking, I assumed they were re trimmed, congratulations on keeping them preserved like that, I know it is one of the weaknesses of the interior.
What's also special about this F50 besides it being 001 is, Dennis the owner drives it and shares it, extensively, it can often be seen cruising in Miami or parked up there. Andrew you may want to expand your market analysis from F40s to F50s at some point, here's a nice Eu/ROW F50 in California with 13,400 kilometers available for around $4.3m.
I have the same range of data for the F50 that I have for the F40 because I collect everything, albeit not broken down in all the same detailed ways (US vs. EU, Classiche, restoration, etc.) as I haven't had a reason to do so yet. For a sample just freely up on my website, I intend to stick with just the F40. Indeed - I've seen his F50 at least three different times, and on two opposite coasts. Here is a picture I snapped in Monterey last summer. People who know the F50 will appreciate the parking spot he was in. I sent this picture to Dennis on Instagram at the time (I don't know him), but I think I only creeped him out . Anyway, you guys will probably enjoy the juxtaposition... Except that there are more than 349 F50's. 352 plus 19 pre-production plus 6 post production = grand total 377 units. Yes, all serial numbers and details known for each unit. Marcel Massini
I just looked … joined FChat on March 4, 2006 - weren’t F50’s in the ~ $650,000 range not long after ? Love these things and I’ve never even seen one Great thread. MDS
