Pretty sure the passenger is Duncan Hamiltons grandson, so has access to some rather nice cars himself.

It's got to be. I'm pretty sure there is only 1 silver F50 in the UK . And it's always the same number plate on it when it gets seen at Silverstone , Spa , Brands hatch etc.

    Just wondering.

A while ago there was a black f50 in the USA (iirc) which changed hands and had a recorded 50k miles, is this still the highest mileage known for an f50, and does anybody know how good these engines are for high-ish miles.

If Nick leventis is using this silver f50 as a DD then it too could be getting up given that it has been in the same ownership for a while now.

I tried daily driving the F50. It was a worthy goal but just didn't work out. First of all there's absolutely no storage whatsoever (unlike the F40). And with no roof there's parking/security/weather issues (I live in a dusty area so mine would fill with dust). The lift is painfully slow. Not to mention it tramlimed horribly so not actually a great driver either.

Its really a car you take out for a few hours and put it back in the garage.

I recall from the documentation on the Black F50 50K that it had a costly engine replacement - I forget the exact diagnosis that necessitated it, but it came from normal wear and not any significant part failure.

    Ouch. Thanks for that.

They all seem to be squirrelled away now and not talked about as much since they have had their price rectification. ( Duly so ).

The Holy Trinity at the Gosford Car Museum, north of Sydney... Oh wait the Holy Quaternity with the LaFerrari. One of the rare owners to have them all! This private museum is a must see for all car lovers with an incredible collection of fine automobiles owned by Entrepreneur Tony Denny. Pics taken by myself so I guess I own the copyrights ;-)

The Holy thing should be in the number of 5, with the 1984 GTO, nonetheless an impressive collection!

I was reading through some old EVO magazines yesterday and I came across an article about a F50 crashed on test at a test track in the late 1990's, was part of a Performance Car article, along with a yellow F40.

Pictures depict quite bad chassis damage, was that car ever fixed, I would assume so?

I understand if an F50's carbon tub is compromised Ferrari will want it crushed. I was told of a UK owner that had smacked his car badly and Ferrari sent someone to inspect the demolition of the tub. This is only what I've heard (albeit from a usually reliable source) but I wouldn't buy an F50 that had been involved in a serious shunt without checking with Ferrari first.

I think that Ferrari is keen on replacing the tub using original s/n and assembly number upon request and (beefy) payment.

Makes sense. I bet it's beefy, shudder at the thought.

Do you mean if they are contacted as consultants by an insurance company when assessing if an F50 is suitable for rebuild under a claim? and that Ferrari will only supply a new tub in such cases if the original is destroyed in their presence?

I know in general in the past that car companies would happily sell new unstamped bodyshells to anyone, but in recent years even they require the old damaged chassis returned and a VIN number supplied before they will accept an order for a new shell

I thought this might be the case, hence my asking the question about this particular car. Based on the picture the impact left a hole in the tub and the right door fell off.

That's what I understand. I have an F50 and it's wonderful. Given hand-built nature of the car I wouldn't touch a car that hasn't rubber stamped by God himself. It's also because I'm a raving lunatic when it comes to perfection as my long-suffering Ferrari dealer knows ;)
