Interesting that it has harness seat belts yet it's a US car. I certainly could be wrong, but I don't believe US F50's came with harness belts. Though, I'm not an expert like others on here are. Joe - is that correct?
Lake Forest Sports Cars in Chicago. I've seen three F50's located in the U.S., and 2 of the 3 had harness belts, I didn't see the interior of the third. Hopefully Joe can clarify.
Years ago, I saw 103879 while it was in for service at Ferrari of Denver. It had the same harness belts.
Some clarity on this topic would be awesome. The example that crashed and is now rebuilt/being rebuilt in Germany (supposedly) was originally delivered in California before it went to it's spirited owner in Texas. Unfortunately he parted ways with it and was crashed shortly thereafter. When the car that RM just sold came up for sale, I assumed it was the other black F50 on the east coast with New Jersey plates but residing in Greenwich, CT. However, the car that RM sold has red inserts and the Greenwich car has black inserts. So that means that one of these cars is a repaint or 3 of the 4 cars have been here in the US, as opposed to 2 like the bio mentions
It is a great example, but I think the reason it achieved over $3 million is because it is black. Black Supercars command a premium in the USA, especially black Ferrari Supercars. Speaking of black, by contrast, delivery miles black SE30 which is even rarer is a bargain @ $500k! http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/145424072-post1641.html & http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/145424093-post1642.html There are still Supercar opportunities.
This is why I made this post, I was hoping someone could shed some light. I don't know anything about anything, so seeing the black F50 I posted, I assumed it was the RM Sotheby's car, but can't know for sure. I can't seem to get any confirmation on it.
Good points both, I simply quoted the auction catalog text. That said, we know how often auction catalog text can contain errors & omissions! Personally, I haven't checked into this to establish if 104092 was originally black, and perhaps Marcel can clarify. Of note - seat inserts are easier to change than a repaint.
This always fascinated me about the F50. - What exactly was included in this big box? - Was it an option or included with every F50? - To my knowledge, the F50 is the only Ferrari to come with a box like this. Am I correct? Thank you to anyone that can shed some knowledge on this. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Another interesting note about this car - it says it went to the US, but it seems to be a a Euro spec car. I'm not an expert like others on here, but the front bumper parking lights and clear, not amber, and the front lower spoiler seems to also be Euro spec.
The box houses the removable hardtop, and every F50 was supplied with both. Its a Tipo USA F50 with the amber turn-signal lenses replaced with clear ones.
Not a very good photo but this is a friend of mines F50 1 owner from new and currently has 1800 miles on the clock hoping to get out in it this summer at some point Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I'd say so. I find the Rosso Barchetta the most beautiful color for the F50 lines. Sent from my Samsung G935F with Tapatalk 6
I think it could be ill hopefully have some better photos in the coming months as the owner is hoping to get it out for the first time in 2 years sometime soon
