I thought the 458 front winglets were like carp whiskers. Maybe it was a catfish.

I read that Manzioni is also responsible for the design of the new edition California. If true
    1. Ferrari is making a big bet on what he comes up with
    2. He has come a long way since the VW Golf.

Yes.There is an interesting interview with Mr. Manzoni on cardesignnews.com, but unfortunately it's for paid subscribers only.Kind of like Silver/Rossa I guess :)
Talks about his time @ Fiat/SEAT/VW and the great success of the VW UP!
His response regarding the F12 :

CDN The F12 Berlinetta is the first vehicle to come from the new studio, but you're still collaborating with Pininfarina. How are you working together?

FM We are trying to set a new kind of cooperation. At the beginning of the project there is competition, we have a phase where we work separately from Pininfarina and step-by-step we work with the best ideas. We have a relationship of competition and collaboration.

i don't know that the car will be "pretty" but it will startle people, and that's what potential buyers will want as Ferrari knows, a car that doesn't look bulky, has all the hypercar credential drivetrain items, an astronomical price tage $, and look like a ground bound fighter jet! :D

it's possible they'll stay, but i hope not ....yes, a narrow waist line, that's what i meant by slight body work

i think the upper body will have some p4/5 similarities up top, but the bottom 1/2 will be very different imo

there was a comment else where (i cant recall which magazine) that the full scale body model had been seen over a year ago at Ferrari, and the protoype is pretty much unchanged from it ...it's interesting to see they are giving more inhouse exclusive control to Manzoni then Coco ever had?

Me too. The new spy shots are showing some real creative design. Just looking at the windshield and roof area, it looks like it may be very organic. It will be breathtaking.

    Wow.

    Front fender,

    Side window shape.

Kick up at rear bottom of side window.

Rear window shape and internal grid.

If this is the final shape there's a lot of P 4/5 design in it and P 4/5 Competizione narrowing of front fender as well.

That's what I thought. It's like a mix of the P4/5 and the 458 with a futuristic touch.

what are those rectangular scoops just in front of the doors and also one at the right rear fender?
They're trying to camouflage a big air duct in the nose (a bit like a seventies 512M) with some sort of mesh. I guess that around the area of the front fenders and doors there will be something similar to the F12 in design.

Edit: could it be that the big beak is hiding an F1 style front wing with end plates?!

So much MC12 more than anything else. Then again it's all prototype and camouflage...

Some of the front is visible under the camo. Look at the front spliter or the frontend. Also it seems that the 458/FF headlights aren't provisional, wich doesn't means that is going to look bad.

I dunno... In all the previous Ferrari prototype test car, they have always hidden the headlights. It is just weird that this time, for their new hypercar, they decide to not hide, leaving it all uncovered.

Also, although the 458 and FF headlights show some similarities, they don't look exactly alike but the headlights on this car is basically the FF headlights, so I really doubt that Ferrari will recycle their headlights from another model in the new F70.

I was scratching my head about this last night. I'm starting to believe this is just an longer 458 like they did with the 355 with a camo back and they are just testing the engine.

I'm starting to believe this is just a mule and the car's front won't look anything like this.

The headlights are always an important part of the design, but in this one the complete car is important. The Lights can be uncovered without problem. The areas arround them are the only parts of the car that look undisguised.

If headlights are exactly the FF ones, then be sure they won't make it in the final design. That said, I'm not sure if they are exactly the FF ones or new.

Cockpit area looks like will not change much.

I hope they add a F40-F50 style wing to enhance the rear, current rear is too low.

Even the roof looks camouflaged, but the front windshield is undisguised :D.
