Im getting a bit of a 333sp feel from her
It's naive to think that without PF in the mix P 4/5 didn't come up in design discussions (or the Birdcage and Tuatara). Ferrari could've slapped a badge on the latter and hit a home run, but Jason is nowhere to be found on this particular project. There is a definite 'family' look happening right now, and if you check out the F12 the front fender treatment is very distinctive; one just needs to take it to the extreme to adapt it for their supercar. It's the trickle-up effect.
Looks nice but maybe not Ferrari enough. Too clean probably, reminds me of the Porsche 918 mixed with the Hennessey Venom. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Totally agree.. but anything with two seats, 600+hp and four wheels will start to look similar after a while. Again, just trying to pull out some details that I noticed from the spy shots. I'm sure most of it is wrong but I didn't see anyone else giving it a shot, and let's be honest.. the overhangs (front/rear) are not practical for any road car in mule form. That's where I started, and the cockpit area just lead the way. Give me a few days to refine it, they spent at least a year doing so.
Looking at the 918 again.. and it reminds me of the concept sketch I did of P 4/5 before she debuted. Makes me wish Art Center wasn't so expensive.
Oh I like what you did with PS, I'm not that skilled at all. I'm still thinking it might be a more radical front hiding under the camo. These parts still look like front wing endplates to me. Otherwise why would the nose point upwards? We'll have to wait and see but in the meantime it's fun guessing. Have you ever driven a car with 24+ inches past the front wheel? Just looking at the MC12 makes me grimace (being an LA guy) every time I see it off-track. That front (mule) stops an inch or two past the headlights in real form. It will have a lot of expensive CF bits hanging off but will (and should) be able to negotiate a normal driveway.
Look at the distance between the end of the camo and the front spliter. Less than one inch. It has a very long front. Image Unavailable, Please Login
And a very close photo of the rear: http://www.motori.it/immagini/5483-1/ferrari-f70-nuove-foto-spia.html?foto
The camo is really heavy over the rear. Should be pretty exciting under there. At least we can see the car won't have California style stacked exhausts. Good.
A glass rood would add too much weight and in the wrong place on top of that (pun intended) and that's a no-no for such a "car".
That little nose shape in the middle makes me think even more that the whole front will be F1 inspired, even more so than with the Enzo.
Policarbonate is lighter than CF. The reason it won't be policarbonate is cost and the new Enzo's shape vrs P 4/5 will have to be more squared off rather than a bubble/canopy to fit the required passenger weight size requirements. Very big/heavy people can't fit in P 4/5 with it's narrowed roof section. Tall people can but not large people. Ferrari's road cars are made to fit a wider range of people than P 4/5. Squared off policarbonate isn't strong. Rounded bubble shaped is.
By the way I've heard from a very reliable source that Ferrari has designed an new system for the way the door hinges. Looking how close the door is to the front wheel they might introduce it on this F70.
True. The door will have to hinge up and out at the same time as P 4/5's door does. Also look at the side shot with the cut out for the door handle. There is a large side cut/duct as well under the camo.
Indeed, they have a US patent (available online) on such a system. The door hinges forward and up with hinges just behind the front wheel. Supposed to allow easier access to cockpit than other door designs.
Starting with the Cali, their camo has often had this really wide, narrowing at the sides look. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
the front end pic close up reveals some shapes ...i've marked over with red some body lines, which gives some further hints ..a long but slim-bullet nose shape Image Unavailable, Please Login
I'm disappointed with the headlights... I always liked how Ferrari maintained every model having a unique styling, contrary to i.e. Audi, where it's hard to distinguish the models at all. Now after the 458, FF and F12, the Enzo successor too seems to get their headlight styling...
agreed ....to many automakers try to use a common theme between current models, IMO Ferrari shouldn't ever do that!
I agree but my disappointment is not confined to the headlights. Too bad more classic lines were not introduced. I realize the P4/P5 may be a little retro but it seems so fluld. The 458 seems to have fluid lines as well. The Enzo and, now, the F70 appear to be designed to be noticed. Different strokes for different folks.
Interesting. I won't argue with you on the technical stuff, which you obviously know better due to your P4/5 project, nor will I argue for or against a specific shape. I doubt that the cost argument stands though, since this car will have a massive price; there are rumours of more than 1.5 million Euros. Anyway, we shall see. Cheers!
rear 3/4 view now, zoomed in to see lines under the cover panels, doesn't reveal as much as the front view does though Image Unavailable, Please Login
