consigned on Delivery date.....
The consignment date [consegna] is the date the date the car left the factory. The delivery date is not mentioned in the records and the mention of 'delivery date' is the source of much confusion...
As we know the cars were transported via trucks to the Dealers, depending on how many Dealers the trucks had to visit, there is a significant time difference between consignment and delivery to the Client. Especially because the dealer wrote the date into the Service/garantee booklet the car was handed over/delivere to the Client which might be another number of days or even month(s).
Raymond, don't confuse the different eras... '60s were not '70s nor '80s... Delivery date is NOT to the end Customer but to dealer physically or truck leaving factory, but also some cars were delivered at factory to end Customer... easy mix, yes ! Here is a clear example of what I confirm : Miura SV Telaio #5052 Consegna : 10 maggio 1972 Cliente : Foitek – Svizzera Finished production date and delivered on its builtsheet and Ingrid's list : 10/05/1972 - pick up by Foitek or transport truck ? Foitek – dealer in Zurich checked the car in Swizerland the 12/05/72. Plate and title with “ZH” for Zurich location : 15/05/72 I know you can provide complete opposite examples, I trust you on that... as I have also notice it... My conclusion is, there is not only one Truth...
I repeat: The consignment date [consegna] is the date the date the car left the factory. The delivery date is not mentioned in the records and the mention of 'delivery date' is the source of much confusion...not only that, the consignment date is not the date that a car came off the line [scesa catena]...
These pictures are amazing. Thanks for sharing. It seems that there is a bit of dust, strange to let these cars stay in the factory and not deliver them right away to get some fresh cash.
It's like they are not even trying to make two cars alike. Situation is more of "can you spot the difference" competition.
Some years ago I calculated that at the peak of the troubles there were over 50 completed Urracos awaiting consignment. Similar difficulties are reflected in the number of Espadas and Jaramas awaiting consignment in these images. They didn't leave until payment had been received...
I put similar pictures in Maserati thread. This stock was made against the crash petrol in 73 polemics . At these time it was a problem to have a car like this, consumption, pollution etc. Pictures are dated on Feb 74.
As well as the above, there was the uneasy political situation in Italy in the early to mid '70s that meant some of those who could afford to own and run high end exotics didn't want to be seen driving them because of the threat of having their family members kidnapped!
For those who love period pictures of the people who made the cars and pictures of the factory, this book is crammed with tens of them. From th very beginning up to the Diablo. The men & the machines, I love this, the people are as important as the cars, without the artisans who created these jewels we wouldn't have them, meanwhile you learn so much about the machines by getting to know the people who built them
So true! This weekend, I was so happy and blessed to meet some retired artisans. Great conversations, so many nice anecdotes about the factory and Ferruccio. A lot of passion!

Peter Sachs owns it, I've worked with him for @ 15 years, very helpful True, but at least the material exists and is archived.
Correct on all counts. I took this photo at the 30th Anniversary, and foolishly forgot to get Marcello's autograph.
I visited the factory back in 1999 but was not allowed in so did my own recon around the perimeter. Pre digital photography days so I didn't take many shots sadly. I unknowingly scooped the Diablo GT about a month before seeing it in a magazine. I did come away with a souvenir steering wheel and gear knob (sorry Lamborghini).
