I know this has a lot to do with Ferraris, but Tom Meade was also a great Maserati enthusiast as well. So any assistance this Maserati community can provide i am certain will be very well received.
Tom Lived in Modena in the Golden years and knew all the Maserati players intimately.
Give him a call and you will be blown away by his knowledge of the period.

    To All:

Tom Meade is looking for help to find a lost Lusso - here is his message - can anybody help?

Here is the info on the Lusso " one off " that i did the special body on to order for Ralph Stefano, chassis number 5557

I sold the car to Ralph Stefano of Anchorage, Alaska around 1969.

Then, some years later it was sold to Charlie Farnsworth of Portland Oregon then became lost. Ii had heard that Stefano had crashed it in the meantime but history is foggy.

Meade book. also.any other Tom Meade custom boded Ferrari,

Maserati or Lamborghini photo's would also be appreciated .

    in the meantime..........

Four Ferrari nude chassis were stolen from Tom in 2008 while he was in the hospital. The place of theft was Westwood, West Los Angeles California. any info would also be greatly appreciated.

A hefty REWARD is also offered.

Steve McQueen. nude CHASSIS ONLY number 08653 ( it was the last

For sure Walter,....but Frank is reaching out to the "Maserati Community" on F-Chat.

You look under every rock and try every avenue when something is stolen.

Maybe the R. Tonkin et.al. gang in P-town know something of #5557. I know an older Ferrari collector in Portland that may know of something. He's pushing 90 years old,... he might have a lead.

s/n 8653 was burned to a crisp in 1994 or so, this is the first that I've heard of the McQueen connection to it.

Hi everybody, I contacted Retromobile Paris and received today their vendor floor plan for 2010, it will be really helpful to have any additional info concerning which vendor had the chassis in display

    Thanks a lot, Alan Lee

Yet this was never posted in the Vintage Ferrari section. Seems like someone is looking under rocks while ignoring an adjacent boulder.

By the way, has anyone considered a connection to this?

There certainly was a thread about this in the vintage Ferrari section, but I can't remember it making mention of any sightings. Sad story.

Yea, well, maybe a "Moderator" could do that,....I guess only if they wanted to.

Or maybe the "chatters" on the "Ferrari" page could look at the "Maserati" page once and awhile,....I guess only if they wanted to.

Jenks took the appended photograph in the paddock at Le Mans in 1957. He reckoned this was the only angle from which the hastily-constructed 450S Berlinetta looked any good...

Bertocchi is seated in the cockpit, warming up the engine.

Jenks furthermore always believed to his dying day that during 1957 someone at Maserati had been "out to get Moss". The broken 450S brake pedal in the Mille Miglia and on another occasion a spanner left atop the engine which jammed the throttle wide open were two incidents he cited. Nobody I have ever known was less susceptible to conspiracy theories than this tough little nut. Therefore his conviction that this had been the case always surprised, puzzled and troubled me. It still does.

While the surviving fabric and past provenance of these cars is always of great interest, for me it has always been the great characters who created, ran and drove them whose story provides the icing on the cake.

OK - that's fine - but do not forget that this is a copyright photograph, all reproduction rights being retained by The GP Library - who will protect them. For your private use, we are very happy to help.
