The Ferrari Archives of Jean Sage Hello, everyone, I am the nephew of Jean Sage and my uncle has asked me to post this message on all the Ferrari chat rooms since he does not own a computer, much less e-mail. You can deliver this message yourselves. I wish you much success. Hello everybody I think that all of you know that I possess one of the most important archives concerning the old Ferraris. For reasons of health, I have decided to divest myself of these archives in order to be sure that they don’t find themselves at the bottom of a carton in a humid garage or worse, that they are not thrown into a trash can. I have devoted a part of my life to these archives which are principally consecrated to Ferrari and I also possess many old and new photos. A large part of these photos were taken at the factory during the time I worked for Ferrari. There are tons of original documents, letters, certificates of the construction of the factory, photos, etc. etc. My aim is to continue to keep these archives alive for the good of the Ferrari community and I have decided to give them to someone motivated and who can show enthusiasm and intellectual honesty from the past. My offer is valid for all those who are passionate about Ferrari, so please write to me, including your reasons for wanting these archives, as well as your project for wanting to keep these archives alive. Please do not respond by e-mail or fax or telephone, it is imperative that you write to me by letter only. Jean Sage (ADDRESS DELETED BY MODERATOR) With warm regards,
There's also an Antique Car Library Resource Center taking shape, I've read about in Autoweek.... A public entity, rather than private...... This is a treasure trove no doubt, maybe Mr. Sachs will add it to the Klementaski Collection......heck, I'm not busy right now, I'll inventory the thing! LOL!

This sounds a little suspicious to me, as I think with one call to Ferrari, they would buy the information..
4 possibilities an historian a Ferrari Customer an anonymous fan a nember of his Familly a historian why not? he will make fortune by selling books, but he have will merity? it will have to thank wise Jean for his provided work. imagine a nice people with an enormous emthousiasme at first, and afther he will decide to sell all this collection...no comments! an anonymous personne? why not ? but he couldn t sleep all night!!! but there s also a menber of his Familly. i thing it will be preferable, they know jean Sage himself, they know documents, an the most important in my eyes they will take intact this collection to the memory of Jean Sage. and i don t want to see this collection in other country, this collection must to stay in France.
0358AM is the most totally dead gorgeous Ferrari, so far as I'm concerned. It has held the number one position in my life's wish list for the past 30 years. I think of this car once a week, like clockwork, when I put down my dollar for the California Lottery. It was love at first sight when I saw it for the first time in a B/W Pininfarina publicity shot. Never seen the car in flesh. Sorry, I can't help tripping all over myself every time there is a mention of this car. john
Why Ferrari will buy somethings that come from their walls ? Intelligent comments are welcome but please think twice before posting
the best idea will be that ferrarichat get the archives, scan it and put it on the forum ? and i don t want to disrespect the intention of sage but for people who known him for a long time, he don t have the best reputation. marcel massini is fare away much better, fare, fare ,fare away ( my opinion and i don t think that i m the only one thinking like this )
Sorry to revive cruel memories... I was likely to see it several times in France and I understand your reaction! Etienne
The web is a dust bin and FerrariChat is no exception. FerrariChat has to reveal the identity of that "Pacal".
If Jean Sage really has decided to part with his archive why would he put it up on a forum like this? He's in contact with a lot of historians who could take care of it. And it's worth a lot (I assume, I haven't seen his archives so can only speculate).
for some people, it s better to deal with new people than other old historian may be ...they are competition between them and i can understand that he will not like to give his collection to a old historian, new blood is necessary to stay alive and bring new energy ! get the collection here, scan it and put it on the web with free access to the ferrari community
Agree, new blood is always good. Allthough it's a noble thought to put it on the web for free access I'm afraid that some information could be sensitive. That's why most good archives are in private hands or at least not easily accessible for a larger audience. If "pacal" is for real my apologies but if he's not it could be very annoying for Mr. Sage with all the unwanted attention he'll be getting right now.
Having seen him at last weeks Tour Auto, it surprises me that he should be in some state of bad health. Being fit enough for 5 days of driving an old car across the back roads in France should give you enough strength to manhandle an archive. Anatol
