I had one for close to 10 years from near new there is no way you’d find a trouble free car. Ok when new, forget it now
Hahaha why that comment made me laugh hard escapes me Sent from my iPhone using FerrariChat.com mobile app
Yep,I had the last and quickest fuel injected version, problem was it was so quick the electrics couldn't keep up. Nobody can repair the speedo's and you can't buy them anymore. If you were to look,go for the last twin carby model . You will be incredibly lucky not to find one with a rusty firewall. They're a great car when nothing is wrong,I would suggest contacting all the Alfa clubs in Aussie re your request, both for accessing one and gleaning info.
+1 for the twin carb model (1.7 Ti). I had one for about 7 years. Bought it at 120,000k’s and sold it at 260,000k’s. It was amazingly reliable mechanically, electrics were a bit average. Cracks were growing in the front strut towers though.
Thanks for that Simon,I’ve just passed all that on to Ethan,he’s keen but it’ll be 6 months before we get something so it’s all reading and investigating the cars for now, within his (our)budget Sent from my iPhone using FerrariChat.com mobile app
$30 k soo Lotus ,Alfa maybe,a fulvia would be nice but hens teeth and getting expensive ,Lotus is the favourite and Elise Green P friendly Sent from my iPhone using FerrariChat.com mobile app
^^^^^ that much?? I wouldn't be f^&king around with a 33 then. If he's keen on 4 door Alfa's look at the best 75 Twin Spark you can find...NOT!!!! the V6 2.5!!! .....unless it's the rare as rocking horse poo Potenziata 3 litre. Brilliant engine, standard soso gearbox until it's been rebuilt, fantastic handling thanx to the rear g'box pozy and LSD,change the front seats for Recaro style ('cos the standard one's flatten out) and you'll have a brilliant piece of kit. You'd still have to deal with the hopeless computer thingy on the roof though, another electrical mess,.
$30k on a ****ing ALFA 33?? Does he want 30 of them ? Buy a Golf R or GTI Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
That’s for a Lotus at a stretch, Alfa cheaper option ,he’s not looking for a VW Sent from my iPhone using FerrariChat.com mobile app
Cheers Simon we will research all great suggestions Sent from my iPhone using FerrariChat.com mobile app
It was a 1988 model. But if your looking for an Alfa, the 75 twin spark is great for handling and balance, but you can’t go past a 147GTA or 156GTA for power and sound.... all should be in the $10k region. I’ve owned a 147GTA for 8 years now. The only car I can find that has more passion around the drive experience is a Ferrari. The 3.2 V6 engine is bullet proof and sounds amazing.
Adrian for that sort of cash buy a 64-66 1275 Cooper S.....Most fun you'll ever have with your pants on.....And really easy to maintain....Also a car that will keep appreciating...
I’ll suggest it Gary and even though I’ll be sneaking the odd Go it’s Ethan’s fancy not mine, weirdly I saw a Cooper outside the bottle shop yesterday (with a leaking radiator Is it a sign Sent from my iPhone using FerrariChat.com mobile app
Buy an old school MK1 if you are looking Adrian....With a 45mm Webber or OEM SUs the induction noise is great....Close ratio gearbox etc Ethan will love it in that price range....Ask Doc he owned one.....
You also need to know that the Alfetta range which I will also incorporate the 75 range are the last of the rear wheel drive Alfa's,a very important choice. If you do start looking at the post 75 range whatever you do stay away from the Selespeed/auto option.
