Not quite Steve. In order to have a Pista order accepted, you had to first take delivery of a 488, with substantial options included. There are now a lot of 488's available as a result. Perhaps the owner here is stuck with a sale-proof 488 and selling the Pista is the only way out.

However you acquired a car and whatever you paid for it, when it comes to sale time, you ask the market rate. That's called living in a free country.

I don’t disagree with your last paragraph in theory, but the fact is plenty of people who had ticked all the boxes would have missed out on an early Pista. Your example is unrealistic. If said owner was stuck with a 488 he/she was struggling to get rid of surely they’d just price it really aggressively. Like $250k, for example. They’d still be miles ahead by keeping the Pista.

No, they are almost certainly the very definition of a flipper, and as such it pisses me off.

It's a "how long is a piece of string question" Adrian.

Steel 308's aren't an economic restoration proposition and many cars have faults ranging from annoying to serious, including going backwards into trees at track days in period, long since flushed down the memory hole. There's a silver car out there that spun along the railway sleeper walls at Catalina and ended up with every corner and panel torn off it. Caveat Emptor.

When they actually were $50K cars, they were routinely given the resale red treatment, cheap retrims, aftermarket wheels, etc. You've got a couple of those on carsales at the moment, asking restored-car money and they haven't found buyers. Probably low 100's should be the asking.
