    There was something odd,strange,weird...dodgy about the 512 deal.
    Bidding had stalled for a looooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooong time at about $385K,Steve might have an idea if he followed the rest of the auction.
    Then a bid came in @ $450 and the hammer went down straight away.

    They must of disclosed the reserve to the buyer.

    We use to get that when my wife and I used to frequent the art auctions many years ago. If the clearance rate was low at the auction and you were a good customer they would disclose the reserve and do a deal with you to hit the reserve were they would not charge you the buyers premium but still charge the seller premium.

    There would be times were we would purchase the art prior to the auction but still put it through so they can get the catalog history and clearance rate performance. The auction world is full of scams. You just need to talk to the right people

    Yep same when we were spending big bucks through our side business they were all bought and paid for prior to the auction.. The rest was a formality....
