Note the wonderful flamed walnut wood on the dashboard, the original radio and the the RR inscribed Air/Cond controls ,which were an American switch gear but for some reason found there way into this Continental Flying Spur.

And note the high speed indicated! At least you won't get nabbed for doing that speed.

To answer your question, in a Ferrari market watch thread!

Top speed for a Flying Spur S3 around 125mph ,you knew when you had reach the cars limit due to valve bounce!

The S3 series cars all ran the same diff final drive ratio however..

With 9 to 1 pistons and the single head light S2 Continental diff ratio which was higher then the standard cars an S3 with the more powerful V8 would be good for 130mph in theory .

Photo is of a S2 Flying Spur awaiting restoration in .Melbourne ......................Gunna?:p

What’s wrong with the gearbox? Do they have known issues?

No....they're just clunky and frustrating. They were ok in the day, but once you've experienced dct dsg pdk blah blah it would do your head in.

Blah. The DSG in my Golf is awesome, the F1 in the 575 is fine for what it is ie over 20 years old, I’ve never driven the 575 and thought, gee i wish this gearbox was better.

So why do you drive an even older HOS?...BTW I’d buy an old HOS over a new high performance car for a simple reason...You can’t use even 50% of the performance on a modern day F car unless you track it...
