I'm very dissapointed. Why Ferrari, puts 4 tubes, when the car only need 2???In my country thats a fake... 1:599GTB 2:MC12 Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
All 4 tubes are functional. Sorry if im wrong, but i think there is a flap in the inner exhaust tip that makes the sound better? I cant really remember since its been a while that i looked at a Ferrari in detail.
Looks like a relatively minor styling detail. Why put wings/ground effects on cars that never see more than 80 mph? Why put hood scoops on cars that don't scoop anything? Why put a console/floor shifter on cars with automatic transmission? Why put a back seat in a car that nobody over 4 feet tall could sit on? I'll agree it's somewhat stupid, but apparently it helps sell the cars.
I had one of those super-stiff Z51 1984 Corvettes. Now it had a REALLY fake 4 exhaust pipe job. The exhaust actually only came out of the outside tip on each side, the inner connected to nothing! And to make it worse, it all ran through a single cat converter, so they might as well have put on only one pipe! Sure did make you feel silly on cold mornings when all the world could see the condensation only came from the two pipes.
There is a picture in the EVO review of the MC12 where you can clearly see daylight through the exhaust pipes on one side. I don’t see why they just don’t connect them to the exhaust system it would be relative easy and not so econo box. EDIT: As a side note, does anyone know why the headlights aren't faired (sp) in on the MC12?
On the 599, the inner pipe has a bypass valve that opens at a certain RPM and makes the car louder. On the MC12, the entire last foot of the car detatches so it can be worked on and thus the tailpipes have to be separate from the rest of the exhaust to allow the rear of the car to be removed. Look at some pics of the MC12 and you will see latches that hold the rear section of the car onto the rest of the car.
