No.
I don't see Ferrari doing one. They don't need to. They more then enough orders to sell. Porsche is trying to increasing profits through volume, they aren't an "exotic" anymore. If Ferrari ever did want to create a top-of-the-line SUV to challenge the Cayenne and Range Rover, they would use the Maserati brand to do it.
SUV's are NOT in the Ferrari vocabulary. It is non existant. Enzo left the "dirty" job of producing Italian SUV's to Lamborghini. Lamborghini with a rich history of producing off road vehicles(tractors) made the LM0002, an SUV ahead of its time.
I have a shirt with a drawing of a 355 and a 550. All it says is, "We will never build an SUV." That says it all.
i remember reading somewhere the ferrari folks specifically answered this question: NO. as for maserati, the original plan was to exchange the QP's platform with Audi for their all wheel drive and somehow use the toureg/cayenne/Q7 platform in the kubang... that never went ahead. thank god.
I hope they don't... But if they do...they should just take a Hummer, drop a 12-cylinder engine in it, slap on the Black Horse, an F1 tranny and paint it red. Yeah, red...definitely red!!!
Paul Newman to Homer Simpson: ''Homer, I'm gonna tell you what I told Redford...it ain't gonna happen.''
That trial baloon has already floated out of Bologna or Maranello. It is being considered. Good sales of the Quatroporte is probably a prerequisite in order to be able to afford developement of it.
I wouldn't mind that. As long as they make it better then the Cayenne (I don't know how people like it, it looks too funky), and more pricer then that SUV and target it to compete against the Rover.
Maserati had a concept SUV at the Detroit Auto show a couple years ago. Called the Kubang. I have a brochure for it somewhere.
You and Fasttalk make two....I think he was tossing around selling his...... And then they blew up one, down there in LamboChat! I think I'd have a BIG garage sale, the day Luca announces THAT!
