FerrariChat GT4 Challenge Round 2: Lets Get Movin'! Recommended by our Round 1 winner, was the Audi Le Mans. While a great car, it requires a bit of patience to obtain. I thought of something comparable and hope you will like it. This week, it is all about horsepower, so I'm opening up some mods before we get technical again next week. So... here goes! The Car: Ruf RGT, priced at a mere: 183,172. The Track: Circuit de la Sarthe I (not II) The Challenge: Best time, post it, or take a picture of it if you are a top contender with a camera phone, digital camera or scanned polaroid. Modifications Allowed: Tires - already comes with Sport/S3/soft tires. No altering allowed. Transmission - no modifications allowed Clutch/Flywheel/Differential - no modifications allowed Nitrous - certainly not allowed Engine - Stage II upgrade allowed at a mere 13,500 Brakes - racing brake package allowed at a mere 4,800 Exhaust - already comes with second exhaust upgrade, nothing more allowed Oil - yes, you can change the oil over at GT Auto Spoilers - nope. You have 7 days. At Midnight on Thursday, March 24th, the winner will be declared and will choose the next challenge. To start the challenge, use World Circuits and join up on a practice or track meet. This isn't going to be as close as a race as you'd think, but let's give it a shot. It takes a while to get around that course. Keep it smooth where you can and you'll at least get below 4:30's. Unable to get to the track? Unfortunately, this course will be opened on day 267 in the game itself. Keep playing and it will open up very soon. About the track: The course is 8.482 / 13.650 km long. It's located here in France just South of Le Mans, which is on the Western part of France. The Le Mans 24 hour race is held there each year. The map is below so... enjoy! Edit: more maps and a walk through on the course, in French can be found here: http://www.nissan.co.jp/LEMANS97/html/fr/cim/circuit/course.html Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Okay, this will take me away from MGS3 (Metal Gear Solid 3). And that is no mean feat. You guys should get it. Its an incredible game. IIRC, one of the RUF's handles like ****. I think it was the CTR2 though.... But anyways, ill get cracking at this over the weekend. Good luck all.
This Ruf is a little difficult to handle, because it handles just like a Porsche with the engine in the rear. So you better work on that straight line braking or else it will knock you right off the edge. So far, not that great, but lots to improve upon: 4:28.410. Tips: when approaching the L'Arche Chicane - brake when you hit the first flag! On the La Florandiere Chicane - brake just after the first flag. Cheating by going over the dirt - by all means, try it, you will not go anywhere. The only speeds you can achieve by getting around corners is by going over the aligator strips, not quite onto the dirt, just prior to the start/finish straight. Mike - btw, I finished MGS2 a few years ago and it was great back then. I take it 3 is that much better?
I finished MGS2 4 times. The last time with no kills/no alerts. It took me about 2 months. MGS3 is IMHO, about 4 times better then MGS2. Its in the jungle!! You have a camo "meter", which means you constantly have to change to the right camo to match your surroundings, and there are not as many guards this time around, but they are alot smarter. And the jungle makes it so much harder as well. But you can pick it up pretty easily if your a MGS vet. I love the game. Get it if you can. Its a nice distraction from the (sometimes) frustration of GT4. Put it this way. My PS2 only has 2 games playing on it at the moment.
4:26.122. That's all I can do now. I'll be out of town for the weekend, so this is all the playing time I have until next week.
I've tried making the run in the RUF Yellowbird, very well the most difficult cars to drive in the game.
Damn it! I hate this track. Oh well, I'll give it all I got... So Stage II turbo and brakes are allowed?? What about the Brake Controller?
Nada on the brake controller. And to tell you the truth, after running around this lap a handful of times, I'm beginning to love it. I thought I would love the car and hate the track, but seriously I hate the car and love the track. It isn't easy, and that's part of the challenge. =)
After about 5 laps I don't like the car much... But the track is fun. my best lap so far is 4:38.432. It would have been about 10 seconds better but I went the wrong way by Porsche Curve and the turn after, I thought I was supposed to go straight and then I saw a wall of black and i was unable to stop. I don't think it was a clean lap on my part because I'd probably be dead. Oh well, I'll keep trying.
That was the idea, but... it isn't too odd to see Germans invading France. oops. Anyways, if there was a capable French car, I'd say sure. But it was also a slight modification from the requests of last week's winner. And I'll say it again, it is a twitchy car which isn't balls out fabulous, but driver adjustments need to be made, which makes the challenge that more interesting. I think next week we'll get into differential or suspension adjustments.
4'16.313 that was with all aids on, and a little mess up at the indy corner... im gonna try it now with aids off and what not... also the RGT happens to be my favorite car from GT3 so i think that helped a little, i had over 15,000 miles on that car in GT3 sry bout the pic, my tv is too big and cuts off the sides w/ my camera phone... ha tried it w/o the aids... much faster... still had some faults though.... You're not knocking the Alpine 1600s, are you It might not be much of a go-er, but she sure is a looker. Maybe a little too much 356 influence, but a good looking car, nonetheless.
got it down to 4'15.745 i'll save the pics for my best time... i was below 4'14.XXX for the 1st half but the end of the musslane messed me up...
I'm in the 4:30's, about 10 laps done with lots of room for improvement. I am STUNNED by how different this car actually "feels" compared to the Z06 from last week. The feedback coming from the DFP honsetly makes me feel like I am driving an 18 wheeler with a loaded trailer, the back end "feels" so heavy. That DFP is worth every penny.
I wouldnt call it a Mod. Its more of an "Adjustment". Besides, we actually learn what an adjustment like does.... Good luck man -Mike
Havent fooled with it much, but this is where I stand after about 12 tries... Image Unavailable, Please Login
I agree with Mike, it is more of an adjustment in what you currently have. If you do find a good setting, please share tips & trick. Hopefully in the up and coming weeks when differential and suspension adjustments come into play, it will be more about the best tuned car and driver.
Is anyone that is involved with this challenge involved heavily with another automotive forum?? If so, maybe an F-chat vs. ?????? would be in order, were we all try and work together, sharing tips etc.... to submit our best time to compete against another site? Vice-versa It could bring a new dimension to this and promote teamwork and respect amongst the masses here. Just an idea.
