I started working on the 747 shortly after we lost the C-5 competition, I think that it was around 1965. I spent 5 years on the program , had a brake in service and later spent 6 more years with the program. I was in the Configurations and Integration group and worked on everything you can think of. I ended up teaching 747 Familiarization to over 1000 people and I knew that airplane like a book. I know full well that it will probably , like the B-52 on which I worked, be flying long after I'm gone.
