Two really great Maranellos being auctioned today at Hershey. A NART blue 550 and a 575M. The Finest Automobile Auctions Haven't been able to work out how to watch it live yet...
The 550 passed at $175k Only 17 users viewing online according to eBay. I found the auctioneer to be quite irritating but a surprisingly poor result all the same.
IMO they where both too high. Was going to ask how many miles the 550 did as I couldn't find it. Unless it was under <2000 value was way too high.
This car hits the auction block for a second time later today. Live stream available here starting at 3pm MDT (Colorado Springs) e.g. GMT-6hrs. The Finest Automobile Auctions It's lot no 152 out of 161 (starting with lot no 100 of course!) so perhaps around 6pm MDT... ESTIMATE: $195,000 - $210,000 USD The Finest Automobile Auctions
Damn. That blue on tan 550 is my favourite colour combo on that car. Too bad no quilted luggage rack.
Auction is right now. Missed the 575 but the 550 is upcoming. Auctioneer sounds like he's from Yorkshire. I guess that must play well in Colorado.
Had a look at exactly the same colour combination in Italy close to Milano at the end of 2014. Nice car, had quilted leather - strongly shruken, that's what finally turned me off... Nart blu fit's the car very well imho.
That is surprising. Nice looking car, beautiful colour combination (I saw a NART Blu 355 recently and it looks even better in the metal than those photos), low mileage (by most normal people's standards at least). I can understand the owner not being prepared to let it go at that price. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
The Finest would appear to be a new kid on the block. Not much in the way of self-promotion on the website but I found this recent article that explains how they operate - specifically in the 24hrs post sale which is worth a read. New Auction House Marries New Technology With Old Business Model, Classic Cars With Cult Cars The CEO is Bradely Farrell. https://news.classiccars.com/69767/ It might just be their 2nd event with the June 2016 Hershey sale being the first. The results of that sale are published online; or more specifically, details of the lots that sold are. I watched the live stream last time and noted that the 2003 575M (manual) was bid up to $220k and was 'passed'. The estimate range would appear to have been $295k-£350k at that time and the results page now show it as a sale at $265k. Curiously, the lot listing still refers to the estimate range whereas other auction houses tend to redact that information post-sale. The Finest Automobile Auctions
Interesting article. I wonder about Aspen/Snowmass in September as an auction venue. It's a long way from any centres of wealth, Denver/Boulder being the closest, and not part of a big event. Catchment of live footfall includes a lot of mountains and coyotes, and it's not exactly next door to an airport with good links to the big population centres. Maybe it doesn't matter, I don't know what % of cars of this value are purchased over the phone/online in the US. I haven't bought any cars sight unseen, even with video. Auction adds extra uncertainty over, say, a dealer with a good reputation. The photography is very good. Would it have sold at an auction in LA or Tri-State...
We should have sent special agent Taz up from Albuquerque to investigate. A very nice 800mile round trip, I would have thought!
5hrs left to run in the post-auction 24hr period.... Current high bid on that NART 550 remains $160k... https://thefinest.proxibid.com/aspr/2000-Ferrari-550-Maranello/32231737/LotDetail.asp?lid=32231737
Plus 10% buyers premium. What is the mileage on it and does it have any history? I think $176k ought to buy you a nice 550.
Pics show 9300 miles, and it looks like the leather is bubbling on the airbag. I didn't see much in the way of history. Beautiful color though. The 550 market has seemed to cool off somewhat, I know CNC has had quite a few 550's sit in inventory, and ALGAR has had a red 550 for many months now. Correct me if Im wrong, but the market has come back. Where it is now, and how much it will take to buy a nice 550 I have no idea, but they seem to sit for a while now.
