Last year I bought a Sigma fisheye lens for my Nikon.

Obviously I'm a big fan of fisheye shots too, but I have learned, that the enthusiasm is not necessarily shared with everybody. A lot of folks simply don't care for the distored and unique perspective. Also it seems to get old fast when it is overdone: When I bought the lens I shot everything with it. Eventually I learned that certain subjects are perfect for it while others don't really work. So I'm using the lens now a bit like a filter: Perfect for a special situation, but not otherwise.

Here some shots where I think the lens shows a perspective no other lens could match:

I have to agree with Tifosi12, although I've never actually used one. I'm sure it's very cool for a few shots, but it's just that, you will only really use it a few times before it gets old and before your entire portfolio is made up of fisheyes. I predict that if I got one, only one or two images in my portfolio would be fisheye and it just seems like a lot of money for such a niche lens, because they do seem to be in the higher price ranges.

A circular Fisheye Yes....Novelty , But desirable under right circumstances..

A rectangular Fisheye should be part of every Photogs itinerary..

By cropping the pic on a rectangular format the results can be extremely interesting...

Gonna try a little harder this weekend to capture something of Value!

This shot has been cropped, which makes it appear as if that is the real Look!

Not to mention that if I blow it up further , The focus /detail and resolution is mostly maintained because the pic was taken about 3-5 inches from subject...

Not bad, but I think I'll stick to 17mm on full frame. :)

Yeah, 17-40mm on a Canon 5D. The 17-40mm has a minimum focus distance of around .7 of a foot so you can get pretty close and with the full frame you can go rather wide, as you can see.
