    Yessss, I remember that!
Do wish I kept the 16M, but the Speciale was the keeper for me.
So far, the FGT is absolutely exhilarating!!

Please tell us about your car, year, miles, modifications etc.

Even some basic inexpensive mods can make the car even better. The basic mods IMO are:

    Short shifter
Pulley, tune, & exhaust- adds 100 hp
Suspension to keep the car more planted

My car was bought with all 3 already installed (along with another dozen or so other mods)

I picked up a 2005 white with blue stripes, 3300 miles, pretty much stock.
I have a list of mods pretty much going to do exactly as your list says…
    Pulley/tune
    Exhaust and decat
    Coilovers
    Rear clam shell release bar
    Rear bumper delete
    Replace front and rear struts
I do need to send out 2 gauges to get fixed: tachometer and oil pressure
Where do I get the short shifter?
    FGT forum seems pretty quiet…

Call Rich Brooks of GTguy. Rich is an awesome person and he will get you and install for you everything that you need.
You need his X-Pipe. The sound is Glorious! All other things that you are doing is exactly what you are supposed to do.
The car needs to warm up (bypass 2nd gear until real warm).
I am very interested to hear your thoughts but the FGT is the ultimate car.

Nice spec, I will say that white is the best FGT color, I had 5-6 slip through my fingers before I bought a local red car instead.

Yep, good list of mods....I have the pulley, tune, and exhaust (custom made). I'm also de-catted using the Ford racing tube. Have the coilovers (Moton), but Scott Ahlman sells the hottest setup currently. I found I didn't need the release bar after I discovered the driver side latch has a lock on it. I'm not a fan of the bumper delete, just a personal thing (I also don't like stripeless cars and think the light blue/orange paint job is ugly).

The gauges are always an interesting topic. I didn't know anyone fixed them, the small ones are available new. In my case, I have a full set of Speedhut gauges which I like better than stock anyway. And them having shift lights is a big deal for me.

The short shifter is a Ford part, do not know the availability.

Since you will have the basics, the next best helpful mod is the transmission cooler.

The FGT forum used to have alot of traffic when I joined in 2012. Other than the trend of decreasing participation accross forums in general, when the new car came out, it split traffic like in half.

I found that while idle-ing in the garage before going out, if I run through all the gears once or twice, I didn't need to avoid 2nd.

I also make sure I shift into all the gears at least once on every drive....even though 5 and 6 are never used otherwise.

I have an 06 with the same color/options. I added a Heffner tune but subsequently changed to the Torrie Tune. I kept the Heffner pulley. I would recommend changing the oil pump Belt (changed myself). There was a short shifter on eBay under Ford GT supercar.

How do you release the driver side latch lock for the rear clam so you don’t need two people to open it?

I’ve seen the Speedhut gauge dash, but there is something about the unique OEM tach shape I’d like to keep…

    Short shifter hard to find.

The transaxle cooler that Kendall makes?

That's actually totally incorrect. Since I started Ford GT Forum in 2006, by FAR the busiest years were the initial years of the new GT program. 2015 and 2016 were...amusing.

Beyond the general decline in forum participation as older people largely moved to places like Facebook, really there are only so many times you can talk about the past, current and future values of a car, which is unfortunately what most discussions devolve into.

I think the reference was for the '05-'06 cars today since he just bought his. For example I rarely visit the new car section. Just seems like traffic is way down in the '05-'06 sections these days.

Pull the lever to release the hatch, go to the driver side latch, push it back to release....then keep pushing it back until it locks in place. Then go release the passenger side latch.

The other way I can do it (guess 6 feet is tall enough) is reach across from the driver side while standing on the floor (I've heard not to stand on the door sill) and use my left hand to release the passenger side latch while using my right hand to release the driver side (you don't have to lock the latch in that case).

One guy upthread says there is a short shifter on ebay now.

    Yes, the one Kendall makes.

I get people liking the OEM gauges, I like the color differentiation of the white faced gauges with red markers. And it just happens to go really well with the red deviating stitching my car has. The shift lights are a cool bonus. This is all stuff that was in the car when I bought it, and at the time Speedhut was the only option when a previous owner incorrectly jumped the car.

Rich makes (hopefully still does) a “Clamshell Secondary Latch Release Bar” so you can do both from the drivers side.
