Dear all, I continue my 348 project...... when I have time. When I bought the car I saw it was badely repaired on the front left. The price was ok so it seemed a good opportunity. When I started the work, I saw that the complete left side was damaged. I repaired the front perfectly..... Now, I detected a bad positionning of the engine frame...... on the left side of course..... the rear wheels are not in the same position in the wings (difference of 10 mm) and the engine frame is not correclty in contact with the part N°2 on the followed drawing. This part N.2.... is it welded on the shell ? or bolted ? Who has the part N.6 (second hand) to check where is my problem? The service was made a few month ago but not in Ferrari dealer... is it possible that all the parts (2 and 6) are good but the engine frame badely fitted back? Image Unavailable, Please Login
My my my!! Sounds nasty Marc! Something is bent there somewhere mate. Sounds like it could be that engine cradle, but VERY hard to diagnose that without seeing the car in person. Also, I am not a professional body/paint man, so I couldnt tell you 100% if that is bent or not! The pro's probably could by taking some measurements.
Hi Pap, I'm working now in Greece for some weeks, so I'm not able to check by myself. But I can tell you that the external shell seems perfect. Doors, wings, front and rear bonnet position are perfect.
Greece?? Cool man! If the panels all line up, then it must be a bent engine cradle brother. It probably can be repaired by a good body shop, but the engine cradle needs to be spot on because the suspension bolts to it. If it IS bent (even if you do manage to bolt it up), you may have poor/dangerous handling and it is probably not worth the risk mate. If you can, get a pro to check it out and then decide from there what you are going to do with it.
