It will be very interesting to see what the next Enzo is like. IMO the Competition is stepping up their game. Ferrari has hinted at a 1000 KG Supercar. I hope their next one is close to that and really Super.
Supposedly, Montezemolo did: http://www.autoblog.com/2010/09/08/report-ferrari-enzo-successor-will-be-a-hybrid/
Hi Jim, Out of the 4 previews, I have to say that the Jag and Lotus appeal to my styling tastes, more than the Porsche (looks a lot like a Lotus) or Lambo (too Transformers like). Just another opinion. Regards, Bill
He did and it will be an amazing accomplishment if they can pull it off. Personally I think this is the way to go. (Smaller/Lighter) I also think hybrid is inevitable. Note that the Lotus is stop/start and Ferrari has developed this as well. The Jag is pretty cool and the Lambo is Very light albeit not street legal.
Jag looks like a used bar of soap (like most 90's cars), Lotus looks like a Lambo, Lambo looks like a Lambo, but I do like the 918. Ferrari use to be unique, I think the 458 is great. I don't think Ferrari should chase the highest HP, I think they should... 1) Build a street car that is built from a prototype racer that is built from a F1 car. Evolve all the way through directly. I would say F50 and Enzo were somewhat in that spirit. 2) Put more into light weight than HP. 3) Hybrid would be OK. 4) Has to have Ferrari curves = sexy female shape. 5) Allow 2-3" auto lowering. Fully adjustable suspension like a race car. 6) Offer a manual option even if it costs $250k extra. 7) Low production of 250-400 and actually stick to that number! Maybe strive to make every single car somewhat personable and unique.
is it just me, or does the Lambo look a lot like the old Vector??? Saddest part is that with all of the new material technology and the ability to make things lighter, we are talking about a Lotus that is heavier than a Corvette!!! What's wrong with this picture???? I'd be the first in line if they made a 1,000 kg car that was quick, capable and a lot more compact than the current and apparently next generations of "super" cars. I've got a feeling that I'm going to be waiting for a long time for that. JMHO
The Porshce is awesome The Jag is different, definitely don't hate it. I agree with Rob that it looks a bit 90s to me. The Lotuses (Loti?) are a fresh change, although they are a little too similar to each other. The Lambo is a great engineering exercise, and while the individual design pieces are striking, it just doesn't work well as a whole. I'm sure the Enzo successor will live up to expectations and meet the challenges brought by other companies.
1. Prototypes will likely not be street adaptable and the winning ones likely Diesel but good point and could be GT1 based. 2. Agree totally 3. Jag Turbine system is very interesting but not very Ferrari. 4. As per P 4/5 5. Good idea street/track 6. IMO that Train has left the station. 7. I'd build to just under demand. IMO demand at 1MMe for the next Ferrari Super Car is about 699.
I think this is one of the best ways to get better CO2, MPG in the easiest way without disrupting the spirit of Ferrari. It's been done plenty of times before but bravo Ferrari.
Yes for every 1 million USD donation to any Charity supported by The Glickenhaus Foundation you will get a free P 4/5 C model...
Why? They'll announce their special edition car, tell everyone they're building 80 and they are all pre-sold. Oooops! Sorry, wrong thread! Here's more Jag video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V6GK3qdqv20 I like it a lot actually!
I guess I should have looked further into it... The Lambo target weight is 1,000kg.. Still looks like a Vector tho...
