Ok. I'm not rich, but as we all know the market gives a lot of choices, especially here in Europe where thanks to the supertaxes, values dive.

Now this is the problem. U get the chance of buying "old" cars like 2005/6 599s for less than 100k dollars, but the problem is : How reliable is the F1 transmission ?

I am NOT gonna race in it, prolly some accelerations and overtakings only. Hell, I might aswell only drive it in auto and let the car do everything but still one day or another the clutch is gonna fail.

I heard about costs and I trembled. Then someone started talking about DCT costs in case of failures (and rate of them) and I thought maybe a FIAT 500 would be better.

Has anyone here had any experiences in replacing these parts ?

    Maybe in Europe ?

Another question. If I want, how much might cost a warranty that covers everything, annually renewed ?

    1) The technology is more reliable that you might think.

    2) The F1 clutch is a few grand when you have to replace it. Actuators can be rebuilt and the entire valve body doesn't have to be replaced per Ferrari. Gear units are reliable. DCT sealed boxes that must be replaced as a unit $$$$...

    3) Post in the specific model thread for a better answer and cost estimate. Though even on the 360 a clutch can be $3 to 7k. If you can't pay, you can't play.

    4) If you're that worried about costs... a Ferrari might not be the car for you. :(

It's different. I have time and I am saving. 7k Ferraris fill the market every year and the used sector gets bigger and bigger. U are driving a car ('99 360) that I can buy in my country for less than 45k euros. I have that. BUT I perfectly know that mainteinance is the key so I keep on grabbing infos and stuff.

Also I'd be interested in a more powerful car than a 360, and u can get a used 599 for 80k euros. Always here, ofc, not in the US. But, I have time, I let it pass and value decrease :)

But I must be ready when the time comes.

They sold the 80k one but there are a 83k one and a 87k other one.

And they have been there for the last 5 months LOL. Go there with 70k euros and those 599 are yours my friend :D

Then you take it in the US and enjoy it :D

They will SURELY need some mainteinance, I am sure. Then again, same happens with the ones you buy in the US. And in the next years prices will drop even more.

I am sorry for those who buy these beauties new but....no wait, I am not sorry at all, they are rich after all they can afford it :D
