After buying the '95 red/tan 355 a few months ago, I stripped off the old wax, did the clay bar thingie, then swirl remover, Zymol polish, then Collinite #476S Detergent Proof wax. Loved the Collinite ever since a buddy turned me on to it a couple years ago. The stuff stays on 4ever.

Now though, after reading about the loveliness of Zymol Concours, I ordered that along with Zymol HD cleanse....so I am gonna remove everything again and start over.

I have no idea if any differences will show up in digi photos, but if there is interest I will post 'em.

I don't think it will shows in photos...I think Consumer Reports uses a reflo-o-meter or somesuch.

The only way I see to compare is a 50/50 side by side. Both with fresh wax. Why not lay a little down on your hood? Perfect type serface.

I did this once. All my buddiesw were buying into this "The Wax Shop" product..and somehow I did not think it really looked that good. So on my deep dark read motocycle we did an exact side by side. It was easy to see then.

    Wax Shop bad. Meguiars good.

I just experimented on my wife's Lexus.
I used a professional soap with Carnuba wax a friend gave me.
Then I used a coat of Klasse Polish which is like an acrylic polymer.
Then I followed up with a coat of P21S Carnuba.
Now I don't know if having carnuba wax in the soap defeats the purpose of a good soap with no wax. Then placing a polymer over what carnuba that may be on the car from the waxing.
Bottom line: It looks good, but two and half hours worth of work, forget it.
It does not look that much better than just washing with the wax in the soap.
Any recommendations on how to cut the time down. I like driving my car, not cleaning it.

    Gary -

Best pre wax soap is Dawn. You need to remove everything before wax.

If you used the Klasse AIO (all in one) first, you'lre OK. I like Klasse and P21 topper.

If you car has a polymer wax on it, Dawn won't remove it. You have to use a 50/50 mix of water and rubbing alcohol...just a quick wipe down, then wash again with Dawn.

I've tried everything Zymol (the $1400 jar), Zaino, NXT, Blackfire, Griots, Autoglym, Collinite, etc I literally have over 40 different brands in the garage.

It's not the wax - it's how you prepare the surface that makes the difference. Also depends on what you want...show car looks or durability.

With several trophy's under my belt I always end up using my original routine of Meguiars professional line: You'll need a R/O buffer

    1 Meg#2 Fine-Cut Cleaner
    2 Meg#82 Swirl Free Polish
    3 Meg#3 Machine Glaze
    4. P21S wax
    5. Let sit overnight - spray & wipe down with distilled water only.
    6. P21S wax again

Do it once a year and your call will really be concours.

To touch up every so ofter or right before a show I'll use Pinnacle paint cleaner and a quick coat of 3M Imperial Hand Glaze. Stunning!

I finally got the detailing done. I used Zymol HD cleanse first, then I used a 3M swirl remover and cleaner wax to cut the paint ever so slightly. Then I went back with the HD Cleanse, then applied the Concours. Overall I am pretty pleased, but like most other expensive items, the difference is marginal considering the extra cost. I am posting photos of the car after it was done, but as mentioned earlier in this thread, you can not readily discern anything from pics (which is why I did not do before/after comparo).

Now it's time to drive the piss outta the thing!

    Looks great...

Now that you did the hard part all you have to do is stay on top of the wax. As you know by know, the final coat of carnauba goes on quickly. Unfortunately, carnauba will only hold up for about 6 car washings, so if you get into a regular routine you will only have to go through all this work about once a year.

I usually like to do a quick coat of canauba once a month...it takes less than and hour and the results are worth it. BTW it does not hurt to "layer" multiple coats.

The little jar of concours will last a long time...I also keep mine in the fridge. When it does run out, try some P21-S for about $25...same size jar and the results are amazing.

Now go and drive the daylights out of it!!!!!!
