A sad day indeed. Probably the best there's ever been.

during the Andrea Bocelli concert tonight in San Jose, Andrea announced to all of us that he was greatly saddened that his good friend-the GOAT was no longer with us...He then dedicated the song, "Time to say goodbye" to Ali...not a dry eye in the house...

The first Liston,wow..I got to listen to it. The second I dunno if legit.
    Jeez,there's so much..float like a butterfly etc.
I'm glad there was never an Ali in his prime vs Tyson in his...the result would not be satisfactory.
    RIP
    .
Wonder who has the mic,Cosel or Ali?

    Really?

I think it would have been the definitive fight, maybe ever.

I certainly don't think anyone could have predicted the outcome, that's for sure! Ali at his prime -v- Iron Mike at his!? Wow!...... "This is why we (would have) watched." ;)

    Cheers,
    Ian

    Ian,
I saw like three fights of iron mikes, replays, and had the thought I'm glad Ali never had to face that destruction machine. This was when MT was on..and devastating. Maybe dem wuz bums, but he was scary. I wonder if Ali could have had the quickness to elude his power but matching it would have been difficult. Tyson burned out, flamed out..but I never saw a more frightening fighter..until he bit doowachee, then I turned him off.
How's your head, man? Now you sir,can take a punch! That didn't hurt?...the hell you say.
    Uh,watch where you're going,ok?😉
    Cheers,
    RE

He was probably the most recognizable and loved person on the planet. If there is anyone who didn't love him, I don't know them.

I always enjoyed when he was interviewed by Howard Cosell. These two men were so different, and yet you could tell that they each respected the other.

I remember watching "The Thrilla in Manila" and "The Rumble in the Jungle" when they were shown on TV. I never thought he had a chance against Foreman, but the "rope-a-dope" really worked!

Champ, you will be missed. Boxing, and the world, will never be quite the same.
