There's a lot going on, design-wise. The headlights, the tail lights, the tall DuVall windshield, all lead me to believe it's a strange re body in an American style. But the axle head of the radiator looks European. No running boards is very advanced for pre-38. Is the girl Edie from Grey Gardens? Matt
I thought Alfa, maybe, but the headlights throw it off. Look to be pointed up? Died in plane crash, Jan. 1938, so no.
No, they're Woodlites. Looks like neither to me. My first impression is that it's American - Duesenberg, perhaps. Let me see what I can find.
Don't care for the headlights but the design is spectacular. Should have been left in the original color. The white spoils it.
I agree, looks much better in black. I also like the original hood louvers vs. the ones on the car now. otherwise a beautiful design.
Yea the louvers look like a hotrodder got busy with his louver dies. The originals were....well original. The short wheel base with the fenders reaching so close and the gap with no running boards combined with the raked, frameless windshield are really a great combination. Very sporty looking car. Just the thing to arrive at Will Rogers place in to play a game of polo.
Strother MacMinn helped with the restoration I had Strother as a professor at Art Center in LA in the '70's no one knew more about the classics & design than Strother.....he was like a walking encyclopedia
Do you know why they went the route they did and not back to the "original" custom as pictured above?
I believe Mr. MacMinn wanted to do a vehicle that would look like what the designer 'would' have done had the original designer been alive. Interestingly, Stewart Reed, currently Chair of the Trans Dept. at Art Center College of Design recently completed a similar project on a Type 67 Bugatti chassis. I'll try to find photos

My mom has this photo of her home town, Stockton-on-Tees in Northeast England, from what we think is the 1950s. We're trying to identify all the cars in the shot and we think that will confirm the approximate time the photo was taken. While we're trying to identify all the cars, I thought this one on the far right of the frame looked officially interesting. I initially thought it was a Ford Vedette, but looking that up didn't bring back a match. Any ideas? All the best, Andrew. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Thanks Wayne! Dad and I got as far as Opel in the last few minutes after he did some image enhancement on the badge but we didn't get any further than that. All the best, Andrew.

Looks like a kit-car interpretation of the Jaguar XJ13. The choice of wheels is...questionable. Wrong forum.
