Sorry Ed. NO progress in the last few months, Rob took on too much work, and i did not help giving him some of the work with another car, needing attention. Hopefully the situation will improve soon! I will of course let you know when any more work has happened. In the mean time i am looking for a Rad. fan motor, as one of mine has been dropped and pushed the back out of the motor. Here are some pic's of what i am looking for:- Grant Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Grant I assume you have contacted these people ? http://www.saffioti.it/italiano/marelli/magneti_marelli-engl.html Cheers
Thanks for the info Pete. Sorry, the car has been on hold for the last few months as Rob and i had another little project to sort out. I managed to find a matching radiator fan which arrived this week, so have taken both to the local electrical motor engineers, to be checked out, one just needed a little attention and the other needed a rewind, which they have done already. I Had a nightmare with the windscreen surround, it was chrome plated and when the platters dipped it to remove the plating they made two small holes in the corners where they suspended it. They then tried to mend it and made the holes bigger, i then found someone who could repair it about 200 miles from the car, very tricky as its stainless steel but a poor grade, they had to remake a corner, but must did not quite get it right as Mike spent a day trying to fit it with no luck. I then got lucky and managed to find a good used one at GTO engineering and Mike has tried it this week and its a good, but very tight fit. The second fuel tank has come back from being repaired [ it had to be repaired as there are no new ones left] just needs re-under sealing and both tanks painting so they are the same colour. The air con radiator has just come back after having a new modern core fitted, so should be more efficient and look the same other than having many more fins. And at long last Borrani have cast some new spinners that arrived this week so i can now put the wheels on safely. I should be able to get some more pic's next week when i go up, and Rob has agreed to spend more time on the car so hopefully it should progress much quicker. Grant
How much longer do you envisage this being Grant ? I really look forward to the day its actually on the road as I'm damn sure you do !! Cheers
Sorry Pete. It depends on how long Rob spends on it. Here are pic's i took today with the wheel on. Grant Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Hi Guys. The car is on the move again, windscreen and new surround fitted and stainless steel wires [ not steel as normal] fitted in the doors for the window lifters. Grant Ps. I found a rad. fan motor, so they have now both been checked and one re-wound ready for the car. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Grant, Great to see that there is progress again. Not too far to go now; do you have an estimate to when she will be back together and on the road?
No sorry Jack, no point guessing, i have been there before, all i can say is as soon as Rob and Mike can get it done. Grant

Grant, thanks for showing us all what it really takes to do one of these cars, it's easier to see why they command the money when done! Chuck daytona # 12883
Thanks guys, its getting there slowly. ME 308, its over 3 years since the start, it was started in Oct. 2007 i can remember the day i left my baby, like it was yesterday, it was a very strange feeling not knowing what the future held for the car, i knew it was in safe hands but not knowing about the costs was very scary for a man of modest means. Still its all worked out in the end and i can see the light at the end of the tunnel now.
I am trying to establish the finish to the rear bulk head panel that goes between the passenger compartment and the boot/ trunk. The trimmer has done mine in carpet, but i thought it did not look right, so i have been asking around. It appears that it may have be covered in leather [ see pic] but i would just like some confirmation of this, pic's of this area of the car are very few and far between, so any info would be gratefully accepted. Thanks Grant PS. Hopefully, i should get some up-to-date pics soon. Image Unavailable, Please Login
