Grant congratulations on delivery day at last! Nice that others will now be able to see and hear your Daytona in person rather than just the pictures and story we have enjoyed here... CH
Congratulations it's finally finished. I won't be at Silverstone this weekend (going to Goodwood) but look forward to seeing the car sometime in the future. Matt
I want to see a lot of finished pics! It has been great following this thread, and I'm very happy for you!
I just looked back at Grant's quote in post 12 of this thread "I'm not expecting the car back this year" Got that one right
I just spent about 4.5 hours reading this thread from start to finish. It was like a great book, I couldn't stop reading. Grant, your car is stunning! I can not imagine a four year wait to get my car back. Good for you on the follow through. What a treat to have her back and going to a meet. Congrats! Now, where did my day go? (lol)
Thanks very much guys for all your kind comments. They are all very much appreciated. I am running in the engine of course but it was great to get back behind the wheel again Sorry wpbekker, I cannot make Sunday. Grant
Grant, After all the work done to amend the differences between spider and berlinetta, do you immediately notice the difference in rigidity?
A very good question. Before it was like driving a 300c, soft on the corners now its like driving a 456. Its all very tight and drives beautifully. Still running in of course, but I could do 80mph doing around 3000rpm. I have been told to keep it under 4000rpm for the moment. 300 miles roof down in the last few days, so doing OK. I even sat for a few hours getting out of Silverstone last night. 1000 Ferrari's all trying to leave at the same time was not great, the car sat nice and cool, which was amazing. The car seemed to draw quite a lot of attention, and I had alot of favorable comments when I was with the car. Pics from yesterday. Ferrari's as far as the eye could see.. Sorry they are not great, if any one has some better ones please feel free to post them here. Glad the reality is meeting the expectation. You should be fine with engine temperatures in a Daytona if everything is working properly, I sat inching along in the queue (thanks to UK Border Force) for the ferry back from France last month for an hour in 30C of heat and the temperature needles never went remotely near critical, the water temp needle goes to halfway and then the fans cut in and it cools back down.
Grant Good picture of you and your car in Car Magazines picture gallery here http://www.carmagazine.co.uk/Community/Car-Magazines-Blogs/Guest-Blogs/Record-Ferrari-parade-at-Silverstone-2012-/
Wow, wonderful. Very glad she's been worth the wait, Grant! Thanks for sharing the project with us over the past few years, and keep sharing the driving experiences! Onno
Thanks Guys. Matt. Great photo, thanks for the link, I will try to get a high res. version if I can. It was a very momentous occasion for me, after all this time. Grant
Grant, Congratulations, I am sure it is worth all the heartache. Looks fabulous. I am very glad that I will not be in the Daytona class in concours next year! KP.
The Photo is also on Octane and Evo's websites so I suspect it is one supplied by Ferrari to the magazines, maybe contact Ferrari Northern Europe for a hi-res?
