So not rossa "corsa" then ;) LOL.

(While making a gently teasing post quietly glossing over that when he first brought what is now my Daytona, Dad had the colour changed from Dino Blue Metallic to Rosso Chiaro because being young and his first Ferrari he wanted a red one)

This has been a fascinating journey, just from the sidelines, I can't imagine it from your standpoint (and I don't even want to think about the labour charges...). ;)[/QUOTE]

    Hi Randy
Once Mike had striped the car down, and could see the work involved, he gave me a fixed price for his labor for the body work and overseeing the paint, trim, etc. and being a man of his word, he is sticking to it. This did not include parts which by Ferrari Daytona standards have been relatively cheap, with Mikes contacts and my own searching. [ needless to say i could have bought a fleet of MGB's for the cost of of the body work alone]. It's still scary what the final cost will be, lets hope work pic's up, or i will have to put my wife on the street.

No afraid not, it was repaired by Mikes son Paul, Mike also sent me this interesting pic, note the extra hole in the front and the paint work on the bonnet.

Mike did find a pic of the car, and sent some info too:-

The good looking girl is Sally Mason Styrine, the owner and very well known
in Ferrari circles, and has been for years. The good looking bloke is my son
Paul with me without any grey hair. And the car is just leaving the
technical center at Thorpe where the repair center was situated before being
    closed.

It's spelled Sally Mason-Styrron. The car was featured in the Octane magazine celebrating the Daytona last year, and according to the article the car is called "Woofie" due to its WRF licence plate.

It's amazing the sort of stuff that gets stuck in my head...

Some of the parts that where left from the front clip used to repair this car, were used to repair my car [ front wings, panel below the windscreen].

Here's a Bit more info from Mike:-

Forgot to mention that the car did belong to Colonel Ronnie Hoare and was
raced in anger, it is in the old Ford colour's as Colonel Ronnie Hoare, owned a Ford
dealer ship, F. English, in the south of England.

I've seen that car many times, just didn't realise from the pic which Comp car it was (there was a thread about it being in an accident a while back). Here is a short video I shot of Sally M-S running it up the hill at Goodwood FOS in 2007. Not great quality but you get the sound.

The colours are actually Maranello Concessionaires colours as on all of their 60's racers (and used by Ferrari UK on their dealer team 360' and 430's recently). The blue often called Cambridge blue is the Ford colour that Mike refers too.

So are we saying the the comp car is not a real comp car and was converted by Mike?

Thus I'm a little confused by the photo :). Either its had an accident (fair enough its a race car) and was repaired with a standard nose and then this nose was converted to comp spec, OR #15681 was originally built with a standard nose and it's now been converted?

    HI Pete
I asked Mike the question, and here's his reply:-

The work carried out to the comp car, was to return the car back to its former glory, the body had been badly repaired in the past using lots of
plastic filler and the only way was to start again from new.
Paul [ Mikes son] cut the panel from a complete front clip following the original welded seam.
All of the body work on the comp cars started as standard but I wouldn't call it converting, the panels got to a stage in manufacture and then
carried on being made into the model required. So the front, as you see it in the first picture is how it would have been in the factory in the first
stage before the parts making it into a competition car were made up and welded in place as the second picture shows, and as you can see without the
dreaded plastic filler, or the skill remover as I call it.

The pop up head lamps were made from the same shaped panels, just taken to a
    different level.

Mike has also asked me to post this:-
I have just looked at the chat site and need to get the record straight.
I don't convert Ferrari cars or any others come to that, and I only took your car on for the right reasons. I would NEVER have cut the roof off a Ferrari
car in the first instance nor would I now, I wanted to know just what these "specialist" got up to.
While working at Ferrari we were not allowed to lay hands on a cut car and what I found when I took your apart was worrying to say the least.

Interesting point although possibly wandering off the topic of this thread. I would imagine that your first assumption is more likely.

What's the car behind the Dino Andrew? Looks McLaren or March, but the rear wheels are wrong.

ps. Dudley M-S was the first owner of my Daytona. He fitted MGB mirrors, for which I'll never forgive him! :)
He traded it back to Maranello UK for a factory RHD Spyder in 1972.

Hi can anyone help with a photo of the underside on the roof cover for a genuine Daytona Spyder?

Since fitting the correct rear end to my EG conversion, the cover that go's over the roof when it is down, will not fit anymore, even though it was sold to the man who had my car converted into a Spyder as an original Ferrari one.

What i would like if poss. is a pic. which shows the under side of the cover where it clips onto the two stainless steel/ aluminium [ not sure which it is made from] brackets that sit between the trunk/ boot lid and the folding roof. Also if possible a photo of the clips close up. Mike is thinking about making me one as he was trained at Ferrari in the use of Fiberglas and composites for the F40 etc.

Even better would be if someone knows when there is one for sale or to borrow [condition not important].
I have posted a couple of photo's to explain the parts i mean, the first pic shows the clips and second pic is of the cover.
    Many thanks
