So this morning I was looking for a front wheel pant cover device for Julie's 172 as it has been dinged again we just had it repainted during annual. And, somehow, there was a link to the San Diego PSA182 crash that I clicked. Like the moth flying into the flame of a candle, I read the comments. It is dreadful and horrifying, especially the story about "superman". Be warned, read this at your own peril if this sort of thing upsets you. Even though it has been decades, God bless these poor souls and all that were involved.

The worst day in San Diego history.

I happened to be in that neighborhood about a week before the crash. Plane crashes don't get any more horrifying than the PSA crash.

Shortly before this incident my wife and I were flying from Palm Springs to SFO on a PSA 727-200. The head flight attendant was statuesque knockout blonde that could easily have been in Hollywood. She was keeping everybody laughing with her comments and just as we were on short final at SFO , she got on the PA and said, " And now, ladies and gentlemen, our steely-eyed pilot will impress you with one of his silky smooth landings." Well, he did just that in an airplane that wasn't always nice to land and she came on with a musical, " Tah-Tah" I have always wondered if she was on Flt 182. I was never disappointed when I flew on PSA.

Recognize her here? PSA Flight 182 & 1771 Memorial Page

This accident was before I was born, but sounds absolutely horrendous. What a horrible way to crash for both aircraft. :(

Don't forget that PSA also had the crash caused by a disgruntled employee shooting the pilots at 27,000 ft to commit suicide and get back at them. That was in a field but must have been terrifying girl the passengers. The plane hit the ground faster than Mach 1. There was almost nothing left.

PSA was a great airline but was also cursed.

Any plane crash is horrible, I think especially as a passenger having no control over your destiny. The amount of time involved would only add to the agony. Just as horrific as PSA would be the Alaska crash off Santa Barbara a few yrs ago.

Neighbor was an accident investigator for Airbus. Had that pic hanging on the wall in his front hall.
