Hmmm ... most of the F1 girls are teenagers (some definitely just making that term), well they were at the Melbourne GP ... Personally it's just demeaning to 50% of the population that "we" think their only place in motorsport is to hold a sign or umbrella or be a mobile advert. Like the Sydney rugby league team the Rabitoes (sp?) who recently dropped their chear leader squad (excellent), motorsport should get rid of this piss poor attitude to females. I don't think the girls feel bad at all being placed in front of cameras with little clothes. Most of them are probably attention whores so they love it. Add the fact they're getting paid for it and are surrounded by multi-millionaires and the occasional billionaire. I really don't care what other women or some men think about these women being put "on display" or exploited only for their looks. The women showing up there decided to do it and no one should generalize that all women want to be treated like that (for looks/attention).

See below you have missed my point, obviously not well made . No I'm not speaking for them, I am speaking for the young impressionable boys that are heavily influenced in their views of the opposite sex by what "we" adults do. Cheer leaders/Pit girls are a poor example of how to grow a boy into a man. Dad takes his young son to see a sports game and they both have to endure half naked women running/walking/prancing around shaking their bits. Dad sees it for what it is, but is embarrassed for his son. His son then gets the wrong impression ... hence why that great league team in Sydney has matured and got rid of them, replacing them with something else. I have a 5 year old son, I wouldn't take him to a place where women "perform" for adult men and a lot of other parents feel like this too. It's different if you do not have children. Pete ps: Also using pre concent age girls to market your product in sexy outfits is hardly correct. In Australia that age is 16. My sister was not exactly impressed at watching grown men swoon at 13 and 14 year old girls when we went to the Melbourne GP many years ago ... where are the standards that these companies are supposed to abide by?
I agree that all of these women should be at least 18, but as far as this damaging children, I think parents just need to do a better job of parenting. The world is what it is, and a parents job is to prepare their children for this world. I'm not saying you're a bad parent, but I just hate it when parents in general try to put the blame on other things for their children's behavior. I know many people who grew up near strip clubs and crack houses, and they turned out to some of the kindest most respectful, and successful, people I've ever known. And all of them have/had parents who deeply loved and cared for them. IMO parents make way more of an impression on children than women in sexy outfits, violent media, etc.

Again you have missunderstood, it's got nothing to do with whether the girls want to or not. My objection is that this is a sporting for all ages venue and thus this activity, using sex to sell is hardly appropriate for kid spectators. I have already agreed with one of the view intelligent replies that mentioned that parents and their attitudes to women and sexuality has a larger impact, AND I would not have continued to reply at all except some cannot crasp such a simple concept. Again I do not have any issues about this thread, or even the bikini thread because this is really an adult site. I have nothing against girls wanting to do whatever they want to do, but companies parading sex-ised females around children is just not appropriate in my humble opinion. Why do I never take my family to Bathurst to watch the v8 race? Because I most definitely do not want my young son and daughter to witness completely pissed idiots on the mountain side of the track and the unnecessary "show us your tits" culture. F1 does the same but at a much higher (and far more pleasant) level ... why?, it's friggin motorsport. If you want to see some hotties, go to a strip joint!
