got up to around 50 today in STL....warm enough for me to take the top off for a few hours (driving with a jacket, gloves, and knit hat :))

man, that top is fiddly, but it is worth it!

Last night I surprised my wife with a '11 Wrangler Sport in Natural Green with a Black Soft Top and 6-Speed trans. She had a yellow '04 Sport that she really loved and wished she never sold. I'm blown away by how refined the new interior is. It really feels up-market compared even to the '07-'10 models. I've driven tons of Wranglers over the years, mostly from the days when they had little more than a steering wheel, a shifter, and a few seats inside. This thing has power windows and locks, plus Sirius Satellite and a bunch of other stuff. We had a blast driving it around last night!

Those new wranglers are getting a little silly. I wish they would just release a 6clyd
base jeep of under $20K. The sticker prices on the new ones are tough to swallow.

Right now I have a 99 Cherokee Classic that is my winter warrior to keep the toys
    out of the winter weather.

That would be cool! Seems to me a Jeep should be bare bones. Torquey engine, big tires, and an interior that can get dirty without harm. I guess a big heater is pretty important too, but I'm not so sure about A/C.

    Merry Christmas!

Agreed, but I use the "convertible/practicality" approach to rationalize the sticker price. In other words, how many drop-top vehicles are there that can reasonably tow a decent amount, have a good size trunk (while the top is on at least), and ground clearance for the nasty blacktop and occasional street flooding I encounter. Not to mention they are just plain cool.

Also, the resale values are incredibly high % wise so a bit easier to "swallow" the investment in a new one.

For comparison, price a new Miata against a Wrangler and decide which is the better "value."

Very nice! Very nice garage-full you have. One question though, have you ever entertained the idea of painting any of your vehicles white?

    Merry Christmas!

Sorry about the old pics but it is all I have for now...Dad and I saved this from certain death a few years ago and decided to make a ranch cruiser out of it. Works great for cruising around 2500 acres of South Texas heaven!

The bed was completely rusted out so we rebuilt a frame for seats, the top was crushed and rusted out so it was cut off and the windsheild, doors and rear shelf were frenched in. The front has had a PTO winch added since then and the seats have been replaced in the rear with original Willys bench seats.
