I thought with the (seemingly reliable) rumors of a possible return on Mr. Icecreamgate, this was appropriate here: Image Unavailable, Please Login
I would love to see him come back. F1 needs the iceman to even out the field. It seems we have several maniacs with some nubcakes and uber nice guys, but not a single monotone stone cold psychopath.
Interestingly enough this "psychopath" never squeezed a competitor into the wall, never deliberately drove into a WDC challenger, never cared who would be his teammate and never was banned by the FIA or stripped off all his points. He just beat his competition the old fashion way: by being faster
Tell that to Ayrton Senna too then. Find me a F1 driver who says they never looked for a gap perhaps when they shouldn't have or never placed someone else in a compromising situation and I'll show you a liar, or a very poor driver.
Vettel is getting his 2nd title without any dirty driving. Mistakes, yes; stupid moves, yes. Dirty driving, no.
+1. I thought the f1 forum was improving after the recent clean up of repetitive bashing, but it seems we are heading back to the bad old days again...
Kimi is a quitter. Period. He was out driven by Massa for a full year and when the spring hit Massa Kimi was behind him in points at that point. We really dont need him back at all. Not missed. He's a guy who cannot figure out what to do right now. He's aloof and interesting in that reguard. He is more reputation than fact after his debacle at Ferrari.
when Ferrari made the move for Raikkonen you couldn't have convinced me that he wasn't the fastest guy out there...bar none, period, end of story. but he was pretty evenly matched by Massa in '07, out matched by him in '08 (Massa would have been a very, very deserving WDC that year) and '09 was even again until the accident. Kimi is an enigma...and it hurts to say it but Ferrari was right to dump him if it was a choice between him and Fernando...but did it have to be a choice between those two...why not both ? maybe they could have slid Massa back into a Sauber or a Toro Rosso until have found his groove again...or not...his slide has been sad to watch.
Would it be safe to perhaps say Kimi is a troll? I love the guy, but why would he make such a publicized visit to Williams of all places?? Is he just messing with us?? Seems like a Kimi think to do right
It will be interesting to see what Kimi's long term legacy is going to be: If Ferrari continues to fail to build a WDC winning car, is Kimi gonna be the next Jody Sheckter? The last Ferrari World Champion for decades to come? Hopefully not, but so far it sure looks that way.
Yes. Ferrari needs Constructor improvement more than a change in drivers. Being behind RBR for a season is okay, but not year-after-year...and then McLaren, too? It's frustrating.
+1 I'm even happy with Phil! [I still haven't heard any convincing arguments for a replacement that would be an improvement. ] EDIT; Outside of my "vote" for JB..... As for "frustration", I've got a feeling the status quo remains until we get the new motors. I'm not convinced RBR can do 3 in a row though - History tells us that is *very* difficult. "This is why we watch " Cheers, Ian
+1 it is why we watch. I have a bit more faith in Mclaren compared to Ferrari right now. I hope Im wrong and Ferrari show up next year in better shape than Mclaren. Odds are RedBull will be strong.
I think 2012 will be a repeat of this year with a less dominant RB and a closer fight. But I don't think it will be Ferrari winning it (McLaren or RB, probably RB). And I completely agree that the earliest realistic chance will come with the new engine rule as that resets everybody to zero. It took Renault several years until they got their current engine reliable enough so for 2013 all bets are off. Until then it is Kimi's face on the last page of Ferrari's WDC book.
