The Kimi Raikkonen Mood Chart / Kimi Raikkonen's Return To F1

I've always been a huge science fiction lover too.

 

kimi is a very guarded person in that he has his select friends who see the real Kimi (most of whom have known him nearly all his life), everyone else gets an edited version to one degree or another.

Martin Brundle was invited on a night out with Kimi and his friends and he said the one thing that stood out was that you couldn't shut Kimi up!, he was talking non-stop, telling jokes (which had everyone in stitches), and was the life and soul of the party.

The muttering, showing a lack of interest and being awkward with the press is all done deliberately so that the press don't bother him all the time (a very clever tactic!)

 

While I am a big Kimi fan and love the muttering, it did backfire on him with Ferrari: They wanted him to do a sing and dance for the sponsors etc and he just wouldn't. That didn't go well over neither the team nor management.

 

I think you are correct. The one Finnish dude I met and hung out with acted the same way. Reel guarded and quiet until he got to know you.

 

Do you honestly think Kimi gave a rats arse though?, that was their problem not his.

(They don't call him The Iceman for nothing! )

 

You're right, he didn't.

Problem is more that it was one of the reasons why the team fell so in love with Massa.

 

Actually, I think that the problem with Kimi was that he was not winning. When he was winning, the team didn´t care about his muttering and the PR crap.

 

Kimi is like a wild horse that won't be ever be fully tamed and just wants excitement on his terms!

Massa is like a friendly pony who just wants to be loved!

 

He won the last of Ferraris WDC.

He even managed a win with the crap 2009 car

 

Yes but he should have won a lot more. In 2008 he was comprehensively outperformed by Massa. Kimi had a lot of drives where he seemed to be thinking about fishing or having a sauna.

Kimi's great and is also lacking a bit of professional polish. Sure its his style to be aloof and whatever he wants. Fine. He was also paid to leave as he wasnt worth the effort from Ferrari. Very very sad.

I think its very very funny he will come back with Williams. If he wants lack of attention he will ensure it there. That is not a team on the rise. If he doesnt come back no loss other than to some of the drivers he liked to party with.

 

Did I miss something or was there no announcement about Kimi?

It was supposed to happen this weekend or not at all.

 

Didn't hear anything mentioned on the BBC about it.

What was unusual about 2008 was that Kimi started well, and then his season kind of feel apart. He was leading in the beginning and than he had some reliability problems and fell behind Massa. It's as if his 2007 form followed him for the first quarter of the season and then it was gone. I still don't know why Ferrari backed Massa so much in 2008 when Kimi had started the season well.

 

That's what I meant with my earlier post about Kimi's attitude backfiring on him: The team loved the cookie-for-Grandma-baking-cheerleader more than old Grumpy.

Either that or he really has some XXX shots of LdM, which is why they still haven't sacked him.

 

The fact that he is Latin and can speak Italian probably helped. But now that Alonso is there and can speak Italian as well, took away some of Massa's teammate advantage.

Frank Williams says they have strong interest in Kimi racing for them.

 

I would imagine Kimi and co are asking more than Frank is willing to pay, I have also read that they are looking for equity in the team, which I very much doubt Frank will give.

Kimi Raikkonen isn't just looking for a Williams race-seat for next season, according to reports he also wants a stake in the F1 team.

Raikkonen is believed to be on his way to Williams next season with some reports claiming the deal is done while others say it is still in the preliminary stages.

However, there appears to be a new twist to the tale.

According to British motorsport journalist Joe Saward, it "is not as simple as most team-driver negotiations as I hear that Raikkonen is looking to acquire some equity in the team."

Although shares in Williams were floated on the stock market earlier this year, Frank Williams and Patrick Head still remain in control with Sir Frank holding the biggest stake in the team.

However, Raikkonen wanting to part-own and not just drive could be a stumbling block in the negotiations as Sir Frank is believed to be loath to handing control, even a small part, to someone else.

 

Interesting... I for one couldn't see Kimi as much of a "businessman" though..
