Like you I am not sure why Kimi has been so sub-par while Alonso can make a turd of a car edible. I really think Kimi has lost his desire and motivation for F1, he is rich and wants to enjoy life thus he could be holding back Ferrari.

    I'm offering excuses for him.

It's either he sucks or he's lazy, pick one.

Time for people to stop making excuses. He's barely ever within a second of alonso. "The car doesn't suit him" is just an excuse that gets bandied around and is utter nonsense. Step up or step out IMO.

Well, how can he be lazy when there's no testing allowed? Which means, he and Alonso both just show up at races. I seriously doubt either of them visit the Play Station very often.

He did well last year. He did well the previous year. He can't suddenly just be ***** this season. I think it was Bas, who pointed out, which we all forgot, that he had a back operation. That s*cks. Maybe that's why he's struggling.

Either that, or the engineers are just not listening to him, and tuning the car otherwise. Remember..both Kimi and Fred are very very different drivers.

Do you really think Ferrari would let Kimi drive all those laps w/ a car not running on all cylinders? I don't find that argument to be at all plausible. By far the majority of the time any huge deficiencies are now detected by computer generated data. The days of sending a car out on track to see if the engine will behave are, for the most part, long behind us.

Kimi is over rated and he can't drive the car built for fa . Fred is all understeer and kimi is about oversteer . Kimi never had the killer instinct

Yes. I do think Ferrari would send Kimi out with a car not running properly. I would bet that Ferrari wanted to get data from the car, even not running properly, to get SOME data from the car. So, I perceive Kimi out there, fiddling with various setting on the car, just pounding around as best as possible trying to get some tire data. As stated, since there is no real-world testing, a car on-track - even running poorly - will provide valuable data to help the engineers.

Frankly, I just like the guy. He is an interesting human. I know he is talented. I also know talented drivers don't lose their talent over 1 summer break. I believe Kimi helped Lotus get to where they were last season based on his preferences/feedback. I also believe Ferrari is doing very little to develop the car based on Kimi's preferences/feedback. I also do not think Ferrari will ever give Kimi the attention he deserves and his tenure back in Maranello will go wasted. A shame, but that seems to be the way it is.

Fully agree. Way over rated. Not able to drive a car not setup perfectly for him. He is a ZERO improvement over Massa. LdM the hero again lol!

Who better to have predicted Kimi's struggles than Massa. In press saying some time ago Kimi was facing a team built around FA. That being said even with that Kimi is not at all close to the caliber of FA to begin with.

Kimi is over paid and over rated. Personality wise he is old news. Ice man was a major myth. His defining trait is not talking or dealing with the press. That is hardly a remarkable trait. If anything Massa had no real problems beating Kimi at all. I didnt miss Kimi the first time he was fired and I wont miss him when he leaves for good.

    Noted.

My comment was because David quite simply looked at the end results and blasted some statement. Perhaps uninformed was a better description than moronic. You can't base an argument on that without looking what actually happened.

    -

Yes, Kimi's car spend a significant amount of time out of practise due to the car overheating on his (supposed) long run. During his ''long run'' he was in the pit multiple times for whatever reason. After that, he went out again and the car was misfiring, the car needing new parts. I think that was 3 laps into the run, the car not going anywhere quickly (on the straights) before they called him in. So yes. Ferrari DID let Kimi pootle about for a long time on a car misfiring. I've no radio transcripts but they would generally try and sort this on the run, which I expect they tried before finally calling him in.

I don't think he ended up doing a soft tire run.

Shame there's no prize for that. At least they could maybe win something...

    ----------------

I'm the first one to admit Kimi (and Vettel, for that matter) are having horrible a horrible season so far. I don't care if anyone likes or dislikes them for personal reasons (mostly stated is Kimi's disinterest in media and his behavior), which is fine...

I know he's not the best like Schumacher and Alonso, guys who can drive anything quickly. It's been known for years he needs something very specific from his car or he just looks downright average speed wise (his awareness of where other cars will be remains in tact and is absolutely sublime), but that's not reason enough to say he sucks IMO (because in that case, anyone that is not Schumacher or Alonso sucks). Once the car is to his liking...he will match Alonso and Schumi all day long. He has proven this enough times IMO.

BUT, he needs that, doesn't have it now and unlikely if he will have it this year.

Kimi doesn't deserve a Kimi Sucks thread - and today at Spa just proves it. He's a lazy boy but he can surely race.

For those in need of someone who sucks, may I point you in the direction of the Massa Sucks thread, because he is the master of suck.

Then again kimi didn't really deserve his championship. IMO hamilton or alonso did.

Really? and why is that? Did they won more races than Kimi?no.Did they made more points?no.
Was Kimi driving a more competitive car? no. Was Kimi steling informtion from Mclaren in order to improve his Ferrari? No he wasn´t.....in fact, in any normal situation both Mclaren drivers would have been simply excluded from the championship since they both were driving a car that was built and developed with information stolen from a rival team...

Today and last race makes me confident that in a car more suitable to his driving style next year he can make life for Alonso difficult.

In Kimi short speak: [Kimi] + [next year] ≠ F1

Kimi ran a very good race today. He was nearly on the podium.
