I've never understood that sentiment either. Granted, I was just a casual fan at the time, but the dude still seems like a very good driver. What exactly is the implication people make - his brain is messed up now, his confidence, or his eyesight? He seems sharp mentally and doesn't seem timid to me out there. So eyesight?
This. He was quite quick in 2010 but IMO the germany 2010 situation just broke him. He had a rough start in 2014 with multiple incidents (not always his fault) but got over it and IMO is back to his best. He was never a ''naturally fast'' guy, he always needed coaching etc to get where he is (people called Ferrari nuts when they took him on from Sauber, where he spend the majority of his time crashing into things and spinning out), yet after plently of testing and coaching he had great speed from 2006 onwards. The only guy worthy of a ''XXXXX sucks'' thread is Maldonado. He's quite a quick guy, to be fair, crashes a lot etc but he is dangerous. The rest of them are quite simply nearly as good as each other, we only have a few ''aliens'' in F1. Judging from last and this season they are Hamilton, Vettel and Alonso. I'm reasonably tempted to put Button and Rosberg in there...
Proves my theory that Seb was sandbagging last year just to get out of his contract free Btw Bild saying Williams has been offered 4 mills for Bottas next year but they want 15. If he too has any contract clause based on performances he might start disappoint from now on. Or maybe that's why he's already getting beaten by Massa
15 million?! LOL that is ridiculous if true. Guy is a solid driver but I'm not sure he's faster than Massa.
I'm a big Kimi fan Bas, but as a driver, he is responsible for where he puts his tires. Either the car had a failure in software/hardware/setting or it was his fault : (
Throwing money at bottas won't be much of an improvement. Keep kimi for another year the chemistry at the team is harmonious at the moment keep it that way
He was in f1 for 3 seasons and didn't achieve much regarding his teammates. Kvyat had him most of last season, as a rookie with only gp3 experience.
I think Perez too can still have a shot at it, especially given Slim's Ferrari sponsorship. It would feel more natural having a South American partnering a German at Ferrari
Bottas? Hulkenberg? Pérez? I´d hire the cheapest one. At this moment, who is Ferrari´s second driver is irrelevant. And no way I´d gift 15 million to Williams for Bottas.
Max can be had for **** all, pay him purely on performance basis and just his expenses. It's not like he has any, still lives with his parents
I believe the hulk is the real deal all his teammates where pay to drive driver's so they got better stuff .
It's an interesting theory, but I find it hard to believe that a 4 time champion could stomach that. I think he was half-assing it a bit, but sandbagging may be a touch strong IMHO.
