I have no idea why Max isn't already in the second Ferrari...
Martin brundle explained it, when Kimi let out the clutch firstly, it jammed, Kimi has to reset the clutch, deselect a gear, and let go a second time, and that time, the clutch unjammed. The whole process took several seconds, enough that he started moving as approx p14, whoever that was, was already passing him, and the rest went by as he gained momentum. It was analysed as a mechanical issue, not a Kimi issue, although I'm sure some people will not accept that
Well bas is saying kimis finger slipped. If it's kimis fault he sucks. If it isn't bad luck and good drive from him today
The footage showed Kimi activating the clutch, the revs rise, but the car doesn't go anywhere, Kimi then resets the clutch, selected gear, let's clutch go again and it pulls, just as 14th goes past, and then the last few engulf him as he picks up speed. Before the analysis, it seems the commentators were guessing from excerpts of footage, without info from the team which was later given
I was really shocked and saddened by the issue. I thought Kimi fell asleep! I was really hoping he and Vettel could take the fight to Hamilton and Mercedes. Oh well.. But on the bright side, i thought it was a brilliant recovery drive.
+1 I only saw one onboard and it showed him doing what you said. Watched the Dutch feed (painfully) with friends, so no excellent sky analysis. If kimi didn't have bad luck he'd have no luck at all...
If it was mechanical, he had awful luck yet again. But at the same time, it was almost a miracle he didn't get rear-ended, so good luck as well .
I would be shocked if Kimi had fumbled the start procedure as badly as it looked, so I am glad to see a logical explanation. I wish Ferrari would publish something to confirm this!
Actually Arrivabene put the blame squarely on Kimi for fumbling the buttons/switches at the start. Too bad they already signed him for 2016.
He also said he was judging his comments prior to analysing the data and talking to anyone about it. Brundle confirmed what happened after the race
***** happens, but at least he made an excellent recovery, showed hunger, and most importantly, showed the potential of the car. I don't see how throwing Kimi under the bus is gonna solve anything. Few races ago, even Hamilton made a lousy start, and no crap was given.
No he didn't. He explicitly said ''it looks like'' and ''I haven't seen the data so I'm not going to make assumptions''.
It wasn't mechanical. How many starts has he done in that car? Did it happen again at his pit stop? No. He fluffed. End of story.
Simply not true. SPEEDWEEK Formel 1 - Ferrari: Kimi Räikkönen patzt, Motoren für Red Bull? Translation: Kimi has to endure criticism. Ferrari boss Marchionne: "...But Kimi screwed up the start, we are pretty sure that he made a mistake." Team boss Arrivabene already hinted after the race that Kimi probably made a mistake while using the clutch lever: "As it looks right now there was a mess-up with his fingers."
sounds like the same thing to me. how many interviews did he have? i'm sure he doesn't say exactly the same thing each time.
Riding onboard with Raikkonen as he begins his Monza fightback That simply doesn't show a Kimi fast asleep. Lets go of clutch and lights indicate a different mode (anti stall?) Kimi plays with some settings and the car goes. Basically exactly as Brundle/Sid say how it went.

Yet another "unexplained" bizarre catastrophe for Kimi. The car spins for no reason. The clutch doesn't work... it's always something with him.
+1 and it goes with Whitmarsh comments from last week. With Kimi its always something. As if his focus goes in and out. Only he can explain it. Vettel shows none of this overall, in the same car. Hopefully he will get things right and make next year better. This year is hardly impressive.
Exactly... Look at that crazy crash last year where he went of track slingshotted back on to track taking out Massa. It's just these inexplicable events that have made him a bit of a questionable talent,
Is that definitely what happened? There appear to be conflicting reports....or are you just being a troublemaker again.
